maryannes love for her parasite is so deep that if she KNEW it was slowly killing her, she genuinely would NOT care. Literally the only thing that bothers her about being “ possessed “ is that she feels dirty.
gone girl, gillian flynn.
@onlyvirgins / ❛ Some douchebag coming up talking about the greatest feeling in the world: love. Ain’t that a kick in the head? ❜
❛ MORE LIKE A BITE IN THE WRIST. ❜ it’s spoken softly, a sullen tone for a very sullen girl. for she could not recall a single time she had heard someone utter the words 𝕀 𝕃𝕆𝕍𝔼 𝕐𝕆𝕌. perhaps once, the night her father left. it was probably whispered and hurried seconds before he ran off into the night with a packed suitcase. she wondered if he thought of her during the late nights. ( NO, HE DIDN’T DESERVE YOU. ) no. there is no such thing as love. love was a concept, just a word.
( NO, REMEMBER ME. REMEMBER MY LOVE. ) you are the only one, mama.
and with that, a gentle smile. tucks orange strands behind an ear as cheeks turn to poppies. she’s loved by one, that is enough consolation for the moment. all she needed was reassurance from her entity and she blossoms.
❛ DO YOU BELIEVE IN LOVE, RICHIE? ❜
You are mine. I recognize you. We twist our souls around each other’s miseries. It is that which makes us family.
Anthony Marra, A Constellation of Vital Phenomena (via quoted-books)
𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐂𝐊 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐄.
𝟎𝟏. the direct origin of the parasite is unknown. all that is known of the entity is that it crawled out of the forest floor and appears to the towns people as a tall emaciated woman.
𝟎𝟐. she appears emaciated, 7′0″ with elongated limbs, long white hair down her back ( balding in some spots ), black eyes, long nails with dirt underneath them. she wears a long white dress down to her ankles, it is disheveled is covered in both blood and dirt. her toenails are long and too, have dirt underneath them. she overall resembles a corpse, and is a pale gray in skin color.
𝟎𝟑. she goes by many names, but her true name isn’t known. neither is her gender, if she really is a she. the townspeople have crafted an urban legend surrounding her, calling her the long limbed woman. maryanne herself calls her her blood mother. and maryannes true birth mother calls her the parasite.
𝟎𝟒. when she initially met maryanne, her goal was to manipulate her and consume her soul slowly. but after possessing the girl ( maryanne allowed it ), she fell in love with her in a paternal way. now she is possessive of maryanne, often enforcing the idea that she is maryannes true mother. the blood mother knows that she is killing maryanne slowly, but she is too selfish to let go of the girl she has grown to obsess over.
𝟎𝟓. maryanne is required to feed the entity, this halts the process of herself dying. if she feeds on others, the blood mother doesn’t need to feed on maryanne for a while. yet, maryanne isn’t aware that she is dying.
𝟎𝟔. while she is living inside of maryanne, she has granted maryanne some of her abilities. such as telekinesis, pyrokinesis, an accelerated healing factor, can elongate her limbs at will and bend any limb at will.
Demons (1985)
@pseudicide / ❛ I warned you, but you still persisted. ❜
❛ YOU’D BETTER LEAVE ME ALONE. ❜ the girl develops fists at her sides. she is smaller, she is weaker, and she is more vulnerable in appearance. this, he knows. but what he doesn’t know, is there is something ancient buried beneath the flesh of this teenage girl. this is no ordinary teenage girl, this is a vessel. ( I AM HERE. ) and what lies within this vessel waits impatiently for the next victim to slip.
in the blink of an eye, she drops, now crouched on the floor . her limbs appearing disproportionate and unhuman. they pop out of their sockets and seemingly elongate on their own. her eyes, while dark - visibly showcase her aggravation and newest found hatred. ❛ MY MOTHER DOESN’T LIKE IT WHEN I’M THREATENED. ❜ a growl.
( FEED ME THIS ONE, CHILD. ) give me the strength, mama.
@skeptling / ❛ Whoa - This isn’t what I signed up for. ❜
❛ THEN LEAVE. ❜ aggressive in tone, she stands her ground. even stomps a foot to show she means it. after her fit - she lingers there for a moment before turning her heels, continuing her trek into the woods. THE WOODS. the dreaded place no teenager dared to enter without a friend. not ever since ☆ AGATHA ☆ and her friends had started the urban legend of the long limbed woman. ( PUSH HIM. ) agatha had ran back into town screaming like a banshee, this started the investigation into the mystery behind the long limbed woman.
back to the woods. the tree branches around the pair were twisted, and the bare bushes at their feet looked like elongated fingers digging up from the dirt. it was all around the stuff of nightmares, yet to maryanne, this was home. ❛ THEY SAY SHE CRAWLED OUT OF THE HOLE IN THE FOREST FLOOR. I WAS ONLY GOING TO TAKE YOU TO IT. ❜
( PUSH HIM IN, MARYANNE. ) not this one, mama.
also the blood mother goes by many names and they’ll be referenced in my writing. like it won’t always be referenced as the blood mother. she’s also called the parasite ( by maryannes true mother ) , and the long limbed woman ( by the people in maryannes town, weepridge. ) your muse if referencing the entity, will know it as the long limbed woman because that’s the urban legend.
so like the aesthetic of maryanne’s entire concept and story is kinda like the aesthetics of both coraline ( 2009 ) and mama ( 2013 ) mashed together violently.
like the blood mother looks like this: tall with elongated and exaggerated limbs. except her hair is long and white, and her dress is always white as well. she looks one color, and the dress is always stained with dirt and blood. edith from mama and the other mother from coraline are big inspo.
so like the aesthetic of maryanne’s entire concept and story is kinda like the aesthetics of both coraline ( 2009 ) and mama ( 2013 ) mashed together violently.

@quandare / ❛ Too many people have opinions on things they know nothing about. ❜
❛ FUNNY, I DON’T RECALL ASKING FOR YOURS. ❜ it’s followed by a snicker, a sour one at that. the kind that makes you feel uncomfortable, the kind that makes you want to head for the hills. ( PUSH THEM ALL AWAY, YOU DON’T NEED ANYONE BUT ME. YOU DON’T NEED ANYTHING BUT ME. ) there was a comfort in knowing the boy standing before her was a strange one as she was, but there was no room for forming bonds. that role was taken. yet, her sourness is a facade. there was no need to upset the demon, no need to upset her jealous BLOOD mother. a friend would have been nice though, one you could call in the late hours and speak of dreams. ❛ DON’T BE A HYPOCRITE NOW, IT’S NOT A GOOD LOOK ON YOU. ❜ ( WALK AWAY NOW, MARYANNE. ) yes mama.
@bleuebird / ❛ Do you always deflect personal questions? ❜
for a moment, she stares. speaking about her family was a no no. she barely even remembered her fathers face, and her mother - she wasn’t someone you’d speak about with a fondness lingering in your tone. she was vile. maryanne glances down at her clammy hands, veronicas eyes were too strong for her and made her nervous. all eyes were too strong for her, they made her feel small. everything made her feel small. ( breathe. ), the girl follows orders, takes a deep breath and shakes her head. ❛ ONLY WHEN THEY’RE ABOUT MY MOTHER. ❜ ( we don’t talk about that woman. i’m your only mother. ) yes mama.
