In Her Father’s Shadow

The council chamber was colder than she remembered.

Kitana stood alone beneath the high ceiling of steel and flickering holograms. Her footsteps echoed on the black tile floor, polished so perfectly she could see her reflection staring back. She stood straight, hands folded neatly, trying not to shake.

She had stood beside her father in this chamber countless times. But never alone. Not like this.

Shao Kahn sat at the head of the long council table. The crests of Outworld’s conquered zones gleamed across his shoulders. Even seated, he seemed to tower over the room.

“Step forward,” he said.

His voice filled the chamber, deep and heavy. She obeyed without pause.

She kept her eyes down. Looking into his face too long always felt like standing too close to a fire.

“You have come of age,” he said, choosing each word carefully. “It is time to prove yourself. Not just as my heir, but as a ruler.”

Kitana swallowed hard. The air felt thick in her throat. She thought of her years in the inner palace. Her training, her lessons, all the hours spent learning to speak and act just right. All of it leading to this.

“You will take command of Edenia.”

She nearly forgot to breathe.

“Edenia?” she said, her voice smaller than she meant it to be.

His gaze didn’t waver. “The district has grown weak. Too sentimental. It will be the test of your discipline. If you fail, I will take it back. If you succeed, you will prove that you deserve everything I have built.”

For a moment, something flickered in her chest. Hope that maybe, just maybe, this meant he trusted her.

“I won’t disappoint you,” she said, lowering her head to hide the emotion rising in her eyes.

The silence stretched.

When she glanced up, she saw Tanya sitting across the table. Her eyes were flat. Her mouth gave nothing away. Always watching. Always waiting.

Shao Kahn raised his hand and flicked his fingers once, dismissing her like she was no more than a servant.

“Go,” he said. “Think of it as a chance to clean house.”

Kitana turned to leave, spine straight, heart pounding in her chest.

She told herself she had no reason to be afraid. This was her chance to be worthy of the name she thought he gave her.

Her defiance triggered the destruction of Edenia, forcing her into hiding. Now, she works with the White Lotus to protect what’s left of her home and inspire others to rise against Outworld’s control.

Personality:

Kitana is composed, intelligent, and fiercely principled. She carries the burden of guilt for Edenia’s fall but refuses to surrender her ideals. In private, she wrestles with regret and longing for the world she lost. She speaks with calm authority, but there’s always an undercurrent of sorrow.

The Brotherhood tried to erase them. They refused. Escaping into the ghost-data hollows of the Netherrealm Grid, they created their own sacred order.

Now, they are a network of survivors, seers, ritual hackers, and resurrectionists who carry deep pain. Where the Brotherhood worships control, the Sisterhood embraces grief, rage, and rebirth.

They don’t follow Shinnok, but they hear his voice and reshape it into their own scriptures.

Some officers still believe in justice. Others just follow orders they don’t trust anymore. Many know they’re being used but can’t see a way out.

Then they were wiped out. Their bunkers were destroyed, their children killed, their records erased. Only Hanzo Hasashi survived. He was told the Lin Kuei and Bi-Han were behind the attack and that revenge was the only answer.

Now Hanzo works as a black-ops assassin under Quan Chi’s control as Scorpion. But every mission and every reflection brings flickers of the truth he can’t ignore.

The Shirai Ryu may be gone, but Hanzo’s fire is still alive, waiting for the chance to burn everything down or light a new path.

The clan runs on strict hierarchy and emotional suppression. Children are raised to fight from a young age, fitted with neural inhibitors and cryo-tech enhancements that erase identity. Precision is valued above everything.

But not everyone still believes in the mission.

Some Lin Kuei are remembering who they used to be.

Brief Backstory:

The White Lotus started as an ancient Earthrealm order that blended martial arts and spiritual philosophy. When Outworld took over, their temples were burned and their teachers were sent to re-education centers.

But the Lotus survived underground.

Now it has evolved into a hidden network that spreads through encrypted signals, ghost frequencies, and safe houses. Unlike Sector D3VI8, the Lotus doesn’t want to destroy everything. It wants to heal what was broken, restore freedom, and reconnect body, soul, and machine.

Its leaders are people who still remember what it means to be human and have the courage to teach that to others.

Raiden – spiritual leader with ancient wisdom

Liu Kang – his best student, calm but passionate

Kung Lao – sarcastic fighter and skilled tech monk
