even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream, and according to biologist j.b.s. haldane, god must have an "inordinate fondness for beetles" because they constitute 25% of all known animal life-forms and over 400,000 species exist. so if they are so loved, then yes, i think bugs have dreams we wouldn't even imagine. softer, brighter, gentler ones, and crystals of tidal beauty, and baroque visions, and all their thoughts are a great pearly blur, and they slip into heaven through the cracks in its floor every night
