hot take apparently: I think Faly Rakotohavana is going to make a great Warren, given what I have seen in clips of his role in Unprisoned he plays a character somewhat similar acting to Warren where I can see his capabilities for the character shine through. You guys need to remember that not liking the casting choices doesn’t give you an excuse to be racist towards these actors. The directors obviously saw potential in him for Warren’s character, and it is not a matter of “how similar do they look” it is a matter of giving skilled actors a role they can succeed in. Many of you guys are also letting your racial bias get in the way, I’ve seen many people say that they just ‘can’t see him’ playing Warren, and I would like you guys to challenge that thought a little bit as to why you think that way. All in all the things I’ve heard so far being said about this choice is really immature and I just have to say if you don’t like the choice, do not be mean to the actor, you can make criticisms towards it but do not harass anyone. This post applies to Kate too but I have seen far less criticism for her thankfully. I would also love to hear other opinions on this matter!!

a character being a perpetrator does not negate their victimhood and neither does their victimhood negate being a perpetrator. u can accept and reckon w both dimensions in ur analysis

there is nothing morally cleansing about suffering or victimhood, it is not something that inculcates goodness.

one’s character has no impact on whether they were/are a victim or not, victim status is not something that is only afforded to the palatable.

it also does not = absolution.
