Photographer Gunarto Song captured a remarkable photo of a meteor falling “into” a volcano ( Mount Merapi, the most active volcano in Indonesia), and the resulting shot looks like there’s a green beam of light shooting up from the crater. (SOURCE)
Bothersome beast, comforting friend
it’s kinda fucked up that you’re only an age for a year. I didn’t know how to be 23 yet, let me try again
The longer I spend on dating apps the more unimpressed with men I am

By Your Side
"I'm ready to have my tea leaves read, tell me my fortune," you say, sitting down.
"oh, we actually do things a little differently around here," I say, opening a can of alphabet soup.
a gentle fact about this world is that people will want to help you. a cruel fact about it is that you do have to put on your big boy pants and open their contact on your phone and say some human words to ask them for it
The Lament for Icarus 2020, Miao He
ID. A realistic painting based on the lament for icarus by herbert james draper, an oil painting from 1898. the original shows a fallen icarus with wings outstretched, surrounded by three naked nymphs, one with a lyre. this painting appears to be set on another planet, with rocky hills in the background and jupiter looming in the green sky. the three nymphs surround an astronaut in an orange space suit, who lies with arms outstretched partway out of an airlock on a crashed space vessel. one of the solar wings of the vessel, like that of a satellite, is shattered and is arranged like an extension of the astronaut's outstretched arm in line with the wings in the original painting. End ID.

#24 on ur spotify wrapped describes how 2024 will go, how screwed r u
obsessed with mass market paperbacks. their pleasing rectangular proportions. how they fit badly in a hoodie pocket so you can drag them around everywhere with you like a temporary little buddy. the way they fit in your hand because they're MADE for human hands and not as bookshelf decoration. the way the pages feel when you riffle them gently with your thumb. How pristine and crisp they look when you get them and how creased and folded they look when you're done, even if you try to be nice to them. how that wear is okay, how that's correct actually, because they're made with the philosophy that books aren't meant to be PRETTY, they're meant to be read. that little ripple new ones get on the left side from where you hold them when you're reading, the way the ripple only goes as far as you've read, because u change stories by reading as they are changing you. how you can find thousands of these creased and folded and loved little dudes in every thrift store and used book shop and neighborhood library and you can instantly see the ones that someone carried around in a backpack for weeks or read to pieces or gave up on halfway through because they wear being read like fresh snow wears footprints. I love these poorly made, subpar little rectangles so much. truly the people's books.
hey tumblr next time u roll out a new feature do u think u could tell us about it in one email instead of like 6?
