             “evie–” a frown curves his lips downwards, eyes staring else where for awhile before blue hues finally find the courage to move on her kind eyes, “i’m scared to say it.” billy admits, better to admit it than not say it and keep her guessing how he feels. not because he doesn’t trust her, but because he’s afraid if he utters the three words into the world that the same demon that’s always been after him will come to jinx it on him. it’s a huge wall for him to just let down and he needs the time, but he also doesn’t want time. he wants to tell her– there’s genuine love for her in his eyes in the midst of all that fear. 

      Evie isn’t offended by his words  ,  knowing that Billy always believed that fate would rear it’s ugly head and take away the things that had been the most important to him  .  She understood that as well  ,  but she had learned to understand that every day might be her last and she wanted him to know how she felt even if it didn’t last in the long run  .  But with Billy it felt different  .  ‘  you don’t have to say it for me to know how to feel  .  ‘  her fingers brushed over the necklace  ,  hand pressing to his chest right over his heart where she can feel the light beating  .  ‘  there are ways to show someone that you love them without having to say a single word  .  ‘

       brows crease, dropping down to the floor on his knees in front of her. only now that he’s picked up on something off about evie. watching her hand cover his mouth, before finding himself quickly returning her kiss. “what?” eyes open in concern. this changes everything then. if it wasn’t necessary, then he’d make her go back home but since she’s found her way to him and saying ‘ SHE COULDN’T stay there because of him ’ it’s obviously it’s something important. “no, forget it. i’ll hide you in the closet if i have to.” standing back up, he grabs her under her arms and helps gently pull her properly in. “what happened? tell me.” guiding her to sit, he’ll next move to put a chair against the bedroom door in the meantime as a lock since his real lock has been torn off from neil.

     it was as if he had noticed that there was something off was about her  &  his behavior seemed to switch from fear of what Neil would do to worry about what was happening with her  .  he drops to his knees and her fingers run through dirty blonde tresses  ,  stained lips pressing together to try and muffle the sounds of a sob that threatened to break free .  when he stands back up he pulls her in for a hug and she buries her face in his neck  ,  trying to just be there with him in that moment and calm down  .  billy then lead her to the bed  ,  her sitting down as she had wiped at her eyes  ,  lucky that she had removed her make up already or else it would have been messy  .  ‘  he wants to move the wedding up  ,  he told me that i had no choice or say in it because his family is paying for it  .  ‘  she hiccuped lightly and put her hand to her mouth to try and muffle the sounds  .  ‘  i told him that I didn’t want to marry him anymore and he got mad  .  ‘

    she knows that she can’t be there  ---  that it was dangerous but maybe he can’t tell because it’s hard but she’s been crying  .  evie didn’t want to be at her house but she also didn’t want to be alone  ,  so she finds herself climbing into his bedroom window  .  he tries to tell her that she can’t be there and she pulls one hand free from his and puts it over his lips for a moment  ,  hand moving to his cheek as she pulls him in for a kiss  ,  lingering there  .  ‘  i’m sorry  .  ‘  she whispered against his lips as she pulls away and sniffles  .  ‘  i couldn’t be there with him  .   i’ll get a hotel or something  ---  i’m sorry  .  ‘

         “i’ll be damned– guess you’re right about that.” responding in amusement, trying to bite back an amused smile. leaning down when she starts singing, moving his ear closer to her mouth so he can hear his favorite singer sing a song to one of his favorite bands even better. those beautiful melodies he’s missed hearing from her so much. anyway possible– guess that’s when you know a person really loves you. and then…she’s ACTUALLY saying the words. what? going frozen, blinking at her in disbelief. studying the girl’s familiar features, the same features he’s studied so many times over and over and could never get tired of. genuinely contemplating on telling her he loves her too, telling ANOTHER person he loves them for once in his life. but god, he’s so damn scared. what if it’s just the heat of the moment for her? what if the sun comes up and she regrets this? all of this. he’d never be able to live with letting himself turn so vulnerable. for a moment the only thing heard between them is the sound of the crashing waves until he finds an alternative way to say i love you. one arm falls from around her back, gently pulling away from her lips. glancing down at his chest, picking up the necklace around his neck. her necklace she gave him, and the same one that’s stayed latched around his neck and hanging above his heart ever since. “look– i never took it off.” cupping the pendant in his hand, sparkling eyes flickering up on hers.

        she knows that this has to be hard for him  ,  that he is probably going through a whirlwind of emotions that had to have emerged from seeing her again  &  then seeing her living situation  .  if it had been her  ,  yes she would have wanted to make it work but there would have always been that slight panic that the ring of a bell would come  &  he would take off towards his old life  ,  being beckoned back  .  but not evie  ,  no she had been set on this and honestly there wasn’t a night that had passed that had her wishing for anything else but this  ,  to be with the man that she had been in love with for years  ,  singing to him  &  being held in his arms in their spot  .  this was their spot and she had only thought of him whenever they were here  .  her heart almost stops when he pulls away and she’s partially worried that maybe he’s coming to his senses  ,  that he had started to regret everything that had been going on with them  ,  but then he gestures towards his necklace  .  the pendant that she remember giving him that night before he left  ,  before their big argument  .  she was sure that he would have gotten rid of it out of anger or maybe time just made it not worth anything to him anymore but it still hung around his neck  .  as if she had given it to him just yesterday .  her hand moved so that fingers could brush along it  &  she can’t help the smile that came to her lips as she thought about the implications of what it meant for him to have it  .  ‘  you never have to say it if you aren’t ready   .  ‘  The female spoke  ,  hand pressing to the back of his neck as she stood on tip toes to pull him down into a kiss  ,  pulling away just a couple centimeters so she could speak  .  ‘  but i love you too  ,  i don’t think i ever will stop  .  ‘
