it occurred to me that while Grace had amnesia to the nth degree, Stratt spent those taskforce years operating under so much stress and chronic sleep deprivation and existential dread and trauma that........ her memory of her time with Grace might also be a little vague. Misfiled. Diffuse and untrustworthy. The feelings of trauma-time memories linger more than the specifics. And the worst things things stand out more sharply than the best things, because trauma memories are trying to teach you to react to future danger.

Would she be able to recall specific conversations, jokes he told? Would she be able to trust that what she read in him, what their relationship was, was actually what she remembered or would she start to question if it was just what she wanted to think? Would she be able to hang onto the memory of the warmth that was there in the 5 years they shared in whatever way? Or would she decide it seemed unlikely or unreal.
