Introducing my fanfiction "Crown of Darkness", a Darth Maul X Female Reader story that is updated on AO3 EVERY SATURDAY.

The story plays in the year 18 BBY, one year after Order 66 and before the events of Maul — Shadow Lord.

This story was begun and planned before the show had come out and announced at all, which just so happens to take place in the year 18 BBY as well. It does contain parallels to contents of the show, since I am doing my best to stay as canon compliant as I can be in the confines of this story, but aside from Maul's background as a shadow leader of his crime syndicates, any actual overlaps to the happenings in the show would be coincidental, as I do not intend to actively work it into my story. (So no mentions of Icarus, Scorn or Spy Bot, sorry) Rook Kast doesn't appear in the fanfiction either, Maul is travelling on his own on a quest to retrieve ancient Sith artifacts and find forgotten and hidden Sith Temples. On his way, he comes across you, the reader, and finds himself challenged by you. You recognize him from tales and stories.

"Crown of Darkness" tells the story of how Maul finds something in you that he believed to be long gone — a reaction to him that reminded Maul of a version of himself he thought he no longer was, or no longer wanted to be. Fear. The way you approach and react to him intrigues him in ways he wants to explore, so he captures you and takes you along a journey neither of you had planned. Reverence is what he is after and he needs you to give it to him. You no longer serve yourself. You serve him. Maul has his ways to convince you that this will be the only way, the only purpose you need to fulfill, if you wish to live. Your defiance is merely a challenge to him. Maul always wins.

This story stays true to his character, facing his weaknesses and strengths, which all culminate into this corroded, fierce and ruthless being, broken by its chains, corrupted by its past and fully consumed by the dark side of the force. The story deals with physical violence, emotional manipulation, shameless smut whenever he sees fit, as well as very slow burning manipulative romantic development and him struggling with his identity and desires. He wants you. But in what way? To what extent does he desire you? What lengths will he go to keep up this strange arrangement? What matters more to him is that you want him too.

The story is riddled with smut and other nsfw interactions, exploring different territories at that. Smut is my passion (to write). I will do anything to prevent a sex scene from reading like it only lasted 40 seconds or 3 minutes at best.

There is no use of Y/N. He either "says your name" or doesn't.

As the story continues, arcs begin and end. Old acquaintances resurface and pry their way into your fate, as well as new characters will be invented for this story in the future. This is a looong fic with a clear ending in mind that is set in stone and only needs to be reached when the time is right. The story will continue with the flow and eventually end, but, truthfully, it probably won't in this year.

I will only ever upload the fanfiction on Archives of Our Own, but I will be active in the community on this platform (Tumblr) and probably post teasers for chapters every now and then.

I have a theory - WITH EVIDENCE - that answers the age-old question, "does Maul have a cock?"

Obviously, the original equipment went down the shaft (hah) on Naboo when Obi-Wan bisected him. He did not recover his lower half, but put together a piecemeal body-horror spidermaul agglomeration. Unlikely to have a functional penis. The closest thing he might have is a waste drainage port.

Firstly, when Maul eventually takes you as his lover, he would never, under any circumstance, cause you harm. In fact, he would take great care to not cause any sort of pain whatsoever. The thought of losing you scares him to his very core, and it is his biggest weakness. When you encounter a near-death experience, it would be enough to send him into a frenzy, and that is where I feel the choking would come in.

It’s not that he is trying to cut off your airway, no, the rhythm of your pulse under his palm grounds him. It reminds him that you are still here and still with him. He needs that. Maul is most sensitive in these moments. You are still shaken up and he is your safe space to show that fear. It’s all pretty emotional, and he is likely to let a few tears escape after you two are finished.

If he found you were really into it, he would be surprised at first. I mean, his experience with choking had always been with people trying to kill him, or him killing others. Maul had been standing at the far end of the room, arms crossed, just…watching. He hadn't interrupted. He just observed the way you smiled, the way you didn't pull away, dissecting the interaction with an unnerving coldness.

Now, the heavy doors had sealed shut and left the two of you alone, sealing out any other noise. The silence that followed was immediate and a little too heavy to be anything but tense. You glanced at Maul, suddenly realizing that something was wrong, but he didn't look at you. He turned away, clasping his hands behind his back.

"You lack discipline," he said, voice low, devoid of anything but a sort of heavy, grating friction.

You blinked, caught off guard. "What? I--what did I do?"

"That…Mandalorian." He turned to look at you, his eyes a little narrowed, but his tone was disconcertingly calm. "You allow him a familiarity that borders on subordination. You laugh at his trivialities. You permit his proximity."

Your breath caught a little as realization spread through you. "He…it wasn't like that, Maul. It was just…friendly," you said, defensive but careful. "It was harmless."

Maul took a step forward. He didn't look threatened, or even really angry; more annoyed, like this was an inconvenience he was frustrated he had to address. "Harmless," he repeated, the word sour on his tongue. "And do you enjoy that kind of attention? Do you find satisfaction in being looked at like a prize? In being touched, entertained, sought after by others?"

"No," you muttered, your throat dry. "It wasn't like that."

"Then do not invite it," he snapped irritably. "It is an unnecessary distraction."

You frowned a little, defensiveness flaring again. "For me, or for you?"

Silence settled for a second as Maul went very still, a muscle in his jaw jumping at the directness of the question. "…Do not flatter yourself," he said after a moment, his tone an odd mix of forced calmness and disdain. "Any distraction in my ranks is a flaw. I will not tolerate…frivolity, and I certainly will not tolerate my subordinates mistaking your indulgence for permission."

He stepped closer, closing the remaining distance between you. His hand rose to cup the side of your jaw, thumb pressing firmly into your cheek as he tilted your head to look at him directly. For all the command in the touch, though, it wasn't rough; it was almost unnervingly gentle.

"You think this is a game of sentiments," Maul murmured, his eyes flicking over your face. "It is not. If you require entertainment, if you require stimulation, you will seek it here. Where it serves a purpose."

You exhaled shakily, torn between the desire to lean into the gentle touch, and to pull away just to escape the tension. "…Purpose?" you asked, voice thick.

He didn't answer. His gaze dropped to your mouth, his thumb shifting slightly to tilt your chin higher. For a moment, you actually thought that there was a possibility that he might kiss you; instead, he just backed you up against the edge of the console. He leaned into your space, his other hand sliding down to grip your hip, his breath hot against your lips as he exhaled.

"Stay quiet now," he muttered against your mouth. And then he sank down to one knee between your thighs, pushing you more securely onto the console as he parted your legs. You barely had time to process before he was pulling your clothes out of the way. The fabric of your underwear was yanked aside with an impatient tug, and before you could shiver from the cool air, the heat of his face was right there.

Maul didn't ease into it. The first stroke of his tongue was broad and wet, dragging from the very bottom of your opening all the way up to your clit in a heavy swipe. You gasped, gripping the edge of the console for balance as you spread your thighs wide to avoid his horns. And then, without another word, he turned and walked out of the room, doors sliding shut behind him, leaving you alone in the quiet.

Hi. This is very Maul specific, but here goes...

You wrote a hc on the Nightbrothers choking the reader, but in the case of Maul, you specified he was mostly uninterested at first due to the power imbalance that was already there (him being a trained Force user, and not the reader-- nothing surprising or interesting about dominating something already beneath you, at least not at first, and so on).

I'm curious what you think would happen if a character he did consider an equal was into him choking them.

Personally, I do think he'd be more intruigued by this, and perhaps even thrilled. To have the opportunity to overpower someone with a power that rivals his own, someone with the ability to overpower Him, for them to be strangely into it, and submit to him, willingly--- that man would not be prepared for that imo.

I do also think it'd have to be a fellow force user for him to see them as equal to him, even if he never admits to it aloud. Maybe make it a Jedi/ former Jedi for extra ✨️spice✨️? What do you think?

The choking hc was the first of my Nightbrother series, it was never even meant to be a series, but more like one of my specials xD feels unreal because back then I had like total of three people reading my stuff. And honestly, when I wrote Maul in that specific hc, I wanted him to be extra mean and crazy and kind of just evil not truly in love with the reader.

In reality I think Maul would choke the person he loves no matter if they were with the force or not. He’d always adjust his strength just enough to make you whimper under his grip, at all times making sure to never actually hurt you :3 also, I think he would have a variety of techniques to do it but here’s one of the ways for now.

The space between you has vanished entirely, each breath stolen and returned in broken little pants as he keeps both fists tangled in your hair. Gradually, he releases his hold and lets his hands slide lower. His fingers trail along your neck in a thoughtful caress as he studies you, dark eyes fixed on your expression.

“And when your instincts demand resistance, you would ignore them?”

Then his hand settles there. The grin not leaving his face. You can see the satisfaction in it, the fascination. And you can feel it too, in the way he hardened more inside of you.

His thumb brushes lightly against your skin as he watches every reaction, every flicker of emotion crossing your features. His thrusts resume slower now and yet deeper as he begins tightening his grip on your throat. He can hear it, the way you’re struggling for air under his pressure, every tremble, every sharp broken sound in your throat. And as a tear escaped your eye, a shaky little “yes” slips from your mouth.

One of his brows lifts as he slows himself inside of you.

His demand throws you off at first, for a moment, you hesitate beneath his gaze.

And yet you obey anyway.

Slowly, you raise your hands, fingers brushing the sides of your neck before settling there. The movement lacks confidence, more tentative than deliberate, as though you’re suddenly aware of how vulnerable the gesture makes you look. Your grip is uncertain, your fingers barely tightening before loosening again.

Maul watches in silence, eyes tracking every small hesitation, every flicker of doubt that crosses your face. And when you close your eyes he cuts in immediately:

As he presses down more firmly, without thinking, your arms came up, clutching at the sturdy leather of his boot.

Reluctantly, you obey and his smile returns.

“Much improved.”

The pressure against your throat remains steady as his yellow eyes remain fixed on yours.
