I wonder how people expected severus to actually get a decent job in his timeline. He hasn't studied at muggleschools, doubt he graduated elementary school or even went to one seeing how tobias simply hates him. Big chance his dad simply didnt let severus go, because a freak isnt worth his money nor would heblike severus to accidentally show a trick or two.
But lets say he did go, he either didnt get that elementary school qualification because he was 11 when he went to hogwarts and you kind of graduate at age 11 from primary school.
If he did graduate though, since hogwarts only began in September and not at his birthday, he only has a primary school diploma in his pockets. Basically useless.
That's his muggle chances, at a muggle job, in a muggle world.
Severus snape goes to hogwarts, where 6 years above him know him thanks to the attention he got from gryffindors (marauders) and slytherins (lucius, later bruce etc). As severus grows older, 6 grades of juniors began to know him too, 5th year, 4th year and so on.
What do people know of severus? He's a slytherin which the entire school takes a piss on. He's a poor halfblood that kind of puts him under a bigger spotlight, because poor halfblood shouldn't be able to mix with purebloods purity fanatics. Which shows how smart he simply is to get their attention.
People often said that severus could get a job. But he cant. In a world where parents scare their kids with houses, I doubt 12 years of people would allow either a slytherin to work with them. Or allow a poor person in their vicinity, nor a halfblood. Much less all 3 of them combined. By then, halfbloods were still rare and also looked down upon. As you see how magical folk talk about muggles, such as Arthur Weasley.
I highly doubt people leave behind their houses prejudice once they graduate. Otherwise, we wouldn't have a james shitting on severus his opinion or a sirius insisting that slytherins is for evil people. Ron even knew about the crappy slyherins. So pray tell me, how a poor, halfblood slytherin gets an equal chance as a pureblood or gryffindor to start their business like the weasley twins?
