‘O Allâh, keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and cause me to die when death is better for me.’
this dunya is nothing but a bridge that’s meant to land you to your final abode. you’re not here to collect it. you’re not here to settle in it. you’re merely here to act and build your ultimate destiny — yet insan forgets. there are some souls who departed from this world in the same state they came in it — their sins fell off with the first drop of their blood, they left behind nothing but a handful of things that were distributed among their loved ones. this dunya never entered their heart. they never settled for it. they understood it’s a bridge so they used it as a means to reach their goal. but where are we going
"When you are pursuing the night of Laylatul Qadr you should say it and say it more so in the final ten nights as much as you can because it could be one of the final ten nights, more narrowed down to the odd nights.
A'ishah radiyAllahu 'anha narrated that she said: "O Messenger of Allāh, what is your view if I know when the Night of Al-Qadr is, then what should I say in it?'
He said ﷺsaid: 'Say: 'Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun, tuhibbul-'afwa, fa'fu 'anni.' (O Allāh, indeed You are Pardoning, You love pardon, so pardon me.)""
Shaykh Ahmad Musa Jibril حفظه الله
“Tell me by Allāh, has he not been cheated who misses out on the blessings of this night? Has he not wronged and oppressed himself, he who spends it in vain or in prohibited gatherings and settings? Abandon that comfortable sleep.
Do not recline to laziness, especially on this night. Fix your feet firm to your Lord in humility and get those 83,33 years worth of reward. It is not something anyone with his right mind misses out on.”
Shaykh Ahmad Musa Jibril حفظه الله
لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍ
"The night of Al-Qadar is better than a thousand months." 97:3
“That is your night brothers and sisters! If you are asked what is your night, you say it is Laylatul Qadr. Some people say their night is the wedding night, the graduation night or the night their child was born on. It is good stuff and not bad, however how many say their night is the night that the burden of sins was lifted off their backs? WAllahi it should be the happiest night of your life. The night you spend a few hours in worship with Allah, yet you get 83,33 years worth of reward.
Your Allāhu Akbar, your Subhan Allāh and your Alhamdulillah is as if you said it non-stop for a thousand months. Your recitation and repentance is as if you did it non-stop for 83,33 years. Your standing before Him is as if you did it for 33.000 days.”
Shaykh Ahmad Musa Jibril حفظه الله
O you whose resolve is effeminate and weak — where are you, when the path was set with trials for Ādam?
Nūḥ wept because of it,
al-Khalīl (Ibrāhīm) was thrown into the fire for it,
Isḥāq lay down ready for slaughter,
Yūsuf was sold for a few worthless coins,
Zakariyyā was sawn apart with saws,
the chaste one Yaḥyā was slaughtered,
Ayyūb was worn down by affliction,
Dāwūd increased upon his decree with tears,
Sulaymān found bitterness in kingship,
Mūsā was tested with awe and fear,
ʿĪsā wandered with the wild beasts,
and Muḥammad endured poverty.
So, O dwelling marked by grief, indeed, its destination is near, but before reaching it lie terrors.
[Page 18, Kitāb al-Laṭāʾif, Chapter Twenty-Nine]
forgive and forget when it comes to the fellow believers, make secret istighfar and du’aa for those who hurt you and whom you love. Clean up your heart every now and then, for holding up malice will not benefit you one bit, instead it will increase you in mental stress.
Your heart is the most beautiful thing you possess, clean it from things that pollute it. At last this قلب سليم will come as a saviour on the day when no single soul will look towards you.
Imām Mālik رحمه الله said:
إذا أتاك مجادلٌ فبين له السنة ولا تجادله
“If a person comes to you arguing, then clarify the Sunnah to him and do not argue with him.”
Because when you clarify the Sunnah, you have placed the proof right before him.
If he continues to argue, then he is arguing with Allāh, not with you.
So clarify the Sunnah and do not debate over it,
for it is obligatory upon the one to whom the Sunnah has become clear to accept it without argument.
[Tafsīr al-ʿUthaymīn, p. 477]
^When the Sunnah is made clear to a person, the proof has been established against him. From that moment on, ignorance is no longer an excuse. If he refuses, argues, or follows his desires instead, he will be held accountable for turning away after guidance reached him.
That is why Imām Mālik said: clarify the Sunnah and do not argue. Because once the truth is placed before someone, the responsibility shifts to him, not the one who conveyed it.
Guidance was shown.
The choice was made.
And Allāh is the Most Just.
They mentioned humility in the presence of al-Ḥasan al-Basri while he remained silent. When they spoke at length about it, he said to them:
“I see that you have spoken a lot about humility.”
They asked:
“What is humility, O Abū Saʿīd?”
He replied:
‘That a person leaves his home and does not meet a single Muslim except that he believes that the other is better than him.’
[Kitāb al-Zuhd by Aḥmad ibn Ḥanbal, p. 226]
