A Page from the Drawing Papers Archives
This page from Drawing Papers 108 features Nina Papaconstantinou’s Pericles’ Epitaph, a carbon copy on paper made in 2011
The 2013 exhibition Drawing Time, Reading Time brought together an international group of artists from the 1960s to today, all of whom were engaged in exploring the relationship between drawing and writing as distinct yet interrelated gestures. Papaconstantinou’s work, comprised of lines taken from major and well known texts, uses blue ink to rewrite these sentences over and over until the words are illegible and become nothing more than marks on page.
The Drawing Papers are a series of publications documenting The Drawing Center’s exhibitions and public programs and providing a forum for the study of drawing. For more information about Drawing Papers 108, click here.
