Cyberpunk 2077(Review)(Xbox One)
Cyberpunk 2077 is an action role-playing/open-world game released on all platforms and developed by CD Projeckt. Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most anticipated games in recent memory, and for a good reason. Every trailer indicated a fun/futuristic game set in a cyberpunk universe, and for the most part, that's what you get. However, if you have the PS4 AND Xbox One version, you're getting a significantly worse iteration.
In Cyberpunk 2077, you control V, a mercenary who'll be a male or female and will be very customizable depending on your preferences. Your character will have strength, intelligence, technical, and "Cool" skillsets that get stronger throughout the game. You're character also has cybernetics that can be added to their body as you progress in the game. Cybernetics will be acquired through collected money through missions, gigs, and side quests, either going through the main story or side missions. Gameplay-wise the game is fun interesting you acquire an assortment of weaponry(and weapon-accessories). Some of the tasks won't be all more complicated than collected something or stealing something and shooting everything in your wake. In contrast, others will take tactical skills, scanning and breaching cameras manipulating them to find clues. It's generally fun, and the action is typically quick-paced. I believe some of the high-tech aspects do enough to make the game fun and different than usual.
Story-wise you follow V as she works her way up through the ranks as either a Street kid, Nomad, or a Corpo. I played through as a street kid sifting to the underworld with partner in crime Jackie Wells, trying to build our rank until things got out of hand. As things progress, V's left to try and rebuild her life. She ends up left damaged with Johnny Silverhand's(voiced by Keanu Reeves) construct in my head, slowly eating away her brain as they try and find a way to separate him from V completely. It's an emotional and immersive story, and all of the well-written side characters help out in that case. It also helps there are different ways for the story to go based on decisions you make and how characters react based on how you reply in the dialog.
The biggest gripe is with the Xbox One(which I played on) and PS4 versions of 2077 being a glitchy buggy mess. Tons of Glitches, too many to mention in a review. However, it's frequent and pervasive enough that you don't sit and watch some gameplay for too long before seeing something that's utterly ridiculous. My brother has the Xbox Series X edition and claims there aren't nearly as many glitch issues from what I've heard; this isn't an issue on PC, just those versions of the game. Something to be aware of if you have those systems and are considering purchasing this game.
All in all, though, I've enjoyed and am still enjoying the game. Once I invested in the story, the glitches become secondary and somewhat humorous. My favorite aspect is the characters and just the game's atmosphere, with the gameplay coming right behind that. It's far from a perfect product, and the story could've been a little longer, but it's quality enough that I'll think we'll be fine for less than full price.
