Many insects and arachnids of Rodinia exhibit the stunning characteristic of face-like markings on their abdomens. This could be a case of unintended unnatural selection, as many Rodinians believe it unlucky to kill or harvest anything with a face, so insects bearing such patterns are more likely to survive and reproduce. The male Laurentian gangis moth has four large scent organs which can exceed the length of the abdomen when inflated.
