iphone swag swag
iPhoneVM.deb
i spent the last few hours digging through old jailbreak forums, dead links, archived pages, and forgotten blog posts trying to figure out what exactly iPhoneVM.deb was.
turns out it's a surprisingly simple tweak that enabled swap on the original iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS using Apple's built-in dynamic_pager.
while researching it, i also found archived documentation for an alternative plist-based implementation that achieves essentially the same thing.
so i put together a repository that:
preserves the recovered original iPhoneVM.deb
documents how it actually worked
includes recreated LaunchDaemon plist variants
provides dynamic, 128MB, 256MB, and 512MB swap configurations
helps preserve a small piece of early iPhone jailbreak history
it's a niche project, but i think these little pieces of mobile computing history are worth saving before they disappear completely.
if you're into old iPhones, jailbreaking, digital archaeology, or software preservation, you might find it interesting.
