Satoru Iwata, you will be missed by millions upon millions of people who owe their childhoods and even their entire careers to the wonderful software you helped to create, you’re gone from this world, but you’ll live forever in the virtual worlds that you brought to life. My thoughts are with you and your family, both in your home and in the company you were at the helm of for nearly 15 years. Thank you Iwata for the incredible passion and talent you brought into the videogame industry, thank you for the memories you have given to the millions of people who grew up with the incredible software you created, and thank you for always being the humble programmer who never forgot where he came from or what it means to be a gamer. We’ll see you again on the other side Iwata, until then, we will always celebrate your many great achievements and continue to support the company you helped through it’s darkest times.

Please disable Adobe Flash until further notice. A group of hackers have hacked into the program for it and leaked a vulnerability that lets a malicious program do whatever it wishes to your computer via flash. This is currently ranked as a critical rating by Adobe.

These can mean forcing different sites to appear with flash on it (Screamers or revolting videos) and possibly encrypting your entire HDD.

As of writing this post (July 8th, 2015), the CERT/CC is currently unaware of a practical solution to this problem.

Please, do not open any untrusted flash content. Try to avoid opening flash content in general. I am begging you to share this information. Make your own posts, tell your family and friends, or anyone you know who has a computer. This is for you and your computer’s safety.

A better idea than to keep using Flash is if you can get a away with it, is to uninstall Flash and use HTML5 exclusively, Youtube no longer uses Flash, Twitch has gone over to HTML5 for the chat, and for the most part the only things using Flash are adverts, so if you don’t need Flash for development or work then uninstall it and get rid of the security hole that is Flash Player.
