Everytime Candice King discusses Klaroline she always talking about being confused at the hype and how the writers never intended on that pairing being anything, any interaction after season 2 or 3 (her words) was just giving the fans a bone in a sense.

It’s just interesting, everyone was confused on why fans liked them(not criticizing that), but if the writers knew they never were going to put them together… then what was the goal besides raising the views? It really does go back to making sure klonnie stayed smaller and forgotten about. To the point where not even their actors mention it. If there was never a purpose then why couldn’t Klaus be paired up with Bonnie? (We know why). When those actors asked for that too.
