144 of 152. A legendary bird Pokémon that is said to appear to doomed people who are lost in icy mountains.
143 of 152. Very lazy. Just eats and sleeps. As its rotund bulk builds, it becomes steadily more slothful.

Pins For Donations Preview
Okay, on February 1st at 4pm Pacific Time I will be posting the official pins for donations to the food bank post. How this works is I will open 20 slots, 15 for premade designs and 5 for custom pins. Right now I am only working with 1.46"/37mm buttons. The premade designs will be available in exchange for a $3 donation to a food bank and cost of shipping, and the custom pins will be available for a $10 donation to a food bank and cost of shipping. Premade designs are under the cut as a preview.
I have a resource for templates (will put in a reblog) if you want to design your custom pin yourself. I am not skilled at art so if you want a design you'll have to be satisfied with creative commons licensed images/clip art or a small doodle. Be advised though that the custom template is for a 1.5" pin and the single millimeter does make a difference, so put your design a little closer the center if you have stuff on the edge of the template. Also. I am using regular printer paper cuz my button press isn't the highest quality and can't handle anything thicker than that, and my printer is also uuuuh so so in quality. What can I say. I'm poor.
Because I know sometimes people need to wait for a paycheck, you will have until February 15th to send me a screenshot or picture of a donation receipt. I won't be able to get you shipping quotes until I open a PO box which I can't do until after I get paid on the 3rd. Payment for shipping will be via paypal so I can just use paypal on the USPS website. USPS is the cheapest and best shipping option usually so that's what I'm using.
Ok, pin designs under the cut
Here's the design template resource
Since it may not be obvious from my pictures of individual Pokemon, the cross stitch sprites are all together on one very large piece of Aida. This is partly unrolled and completely covers my legs. Only 11 more to go, though!
138 of 152. Although long extinct, in rare cases, it can be genetically resurrected from fossils.
Patterns for all the Pokemon (and more fandom patterns!) are pay what you want:
I've opened a Ko-fi shop. Come take a look!
Hi,
I'm BRAND new to embroidery and you've inspired me to try blackwork. I especially like the ones you do with color thread on black cloth. That's what I'd like to do.
I visited three craft/fabric stores today and could not find any black "tapestry cloth" (what's it properly called?)
Where do you get it?
Thanks 🖤
Hi, and thank you!
It’s called Aida cloth. It comes in different thread counts, which indicate the number of squares per inch - I mostly use 14-count.
I don't know if you're in a country with Michaels craft stores, but they carry Aida, though they don't always have black. I've had good experiences with 123stitch.com shipping to Canada, and there are some Etsy sellers who carry it. It's also available from Amazon, though the quality varies. You'll want to wash it before you start stitching, in case it's not fully colourfast.
If this is your first time stitching, you might want to try a small project on white or lighter-coloured cloth before jumping into black; a lot of people find black more difficult to work on. When you do work on black, I suggest either some backlighting (like putting a dim light or a tablet with the screen on low behind your work) or working with a white background (like a white pillow on your lap or a white wall behind your work) to help you see the holes.
Good luck, and happy stitching!
Everything Cross Stitch has it too, in more colors than just black:
Gold Standard 14 count 15 X 18 Box: a Cross Stitch Fabric from Charles Craft, Inc. available at EverythingCrossStitch.com.
Also, Aida cloth should be 100% cotton, so it is very easy to dye with Rit dye or similar cheap dye that you can get even in grocery stores (at least here in the USA).
The tips about having a white background or light underneath that fabric so you can see the holes is spot-on. Dark fabric is much harder to see the holes and you might need to take more frequent breaks to rest your eyes!
139 of 152. A prehistoric Pokémon that died out when its heavy shell made it impossible to catch prey.
141 of 152. Its sleek shape is perfect for swimming. It slashes prey with its claws and drains the body fluids.
140 of 152. A Pokémon that was resurrected from a fossil found in what was once the ocean floor eons ag
Did your website die? ): I'm still using your thread inventory, thank you!
The website is no more, but the thread inventory is still there. I post pretty much only on Tumblr now.
The stockings are done ☺️
Lined them with a super soft cotton (I think?) that has been in my stash for 10 years, originally picked it up at a thrift store in Seattle in 2015. Never knew what to do with less than a yard of fabric that was too drapey for quilts but I like the vaguely Japanese theme going on here between the kitsune, the plum blossoms, and the calico reminiscent of maneki neko.
a LOT of stitching updates today. The scroll frame I ordered with Christmas money came in today and I got the Pokédex piece up on it. Today was also the start of the DandeDuo 2023 SAL hosted by @DuoMTL on Twitch. My fabric came in on time so I did a small start on that was watching the first half of his Tuesday night sewing stream. I'll make slow progress on that weekly in conjunction with Duo's streams.
Gotta support a fellow cross stitcher attempting a pokedex!
@bear-man-xstitch what's the app you're using to track time?

So my sister wants to start sewing more, because
a. She’s 5′ 11″ and can never find pants long enough for her legs or shirts long enough for her arms.
b. She hates synthetic fibers as much as I do and it’s difficult to find natural fiber clothes that aren’t made of cotton
c. She’s a biologist and would physically fistfight microplastics if given half a chance
So her gift from mom and dad for her birthday was a sewing machine. Not a super expensive one but a good solid serviceable one.
And recently she asked “So where do I GET wool or linen and thread that isn’t polyester” and mom was like ‘go ask your sister’
And I, of course, crashed into the group text like “GET A PEN I HAVE WEBSITES FOR U” and honestly I’m thrilled about this
“Where did u get all this”
“Bets, u know I’m a 15th degree blackbelt of buying shit on the internet”
“oh yeah tru”
Op can may we inquire about the website list
Linen; https://www.graylinelinen.com/
cotton and Silk thread; https://redrockthreads.com/
Linen thread and wool fabric; https://burnleyandtrowbridge.com/ (they’ve got wool stuffs and worsted wool fabric for $15 a yard! I just got three yards of navy worsted wool I’m making a constellation winter skirt from)
More linen thread and wool; https://wmboothdraper.com/ (just ordered wool broadcloth to make a coat)
Silk fabric (THE best place to get silk lining fabrics and raw silk fabric):https://www.dharmatrading.com/
A varying assortment of wool and silk and cotton and even some leather, use coupon code spring2020 for 50% off your full order, worked yesterday when I bought some stuff there; https://metrotextilesnyc.com/
Wool. You want wool coating for under $20 a yard? Sure you do. It’s here. Not a huge variety of colors, most are black or brown, but hey https://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/Catalog?refinementIds=4096748&Keyword=wool&pageSize=16
I don’t know a lot about sewing, but I want to make or have my mom make some linen pants & shirts for when I’m watering, because it gets to 105 here and we have mosquitos so I need to be covered. What type of linen do I buy? Also, linen pajama shorts, yes/no?
(I’ve been wearing my renfaire pants which are a linen mix, I think. But the frikking mosquitos that hide in the tomatoes get my arms)
Medium weight is what I’d go with.
And linen pajama shorts is a HARD yes.
Renaissance Fabrics is good for all sorts of things
Mood doesn’t specialize in natural fabrics but they do have basically every fabric ever made so
For wools, I cannot recommend Woolsome enough! They’re a bit more expensive then the above links, but they have a spectacular range of colours and weights, as well as diamond pattern and herringbone weaves. They also have a range of linens, though not as extensive.
Historical fabrics for re-enactors
Tiedtohistory.com has sheer voile linen
The Linen Lab has a variety of weaves, weights, and colors available
Period Fabric has a variety of wools, but switch to the full website if you’re on mobile
Sewing a Cloth Sanitary Pad: A Half-Assed Tutorial
Just to be really clear, I’m by no means an expert at sewing, I’m very much so a ‘good enough’ kind of sewer. I have made a handful of these and I think it can be really intimidating to get into making them, but they’re a lot more accessible than you may have realized.
I also put it under a cut because it’s long, image heavy, and probably not everyone wants it on their dash.
