Sad news guys

On the 13th of October, I noticed that Mars started to look bloated. Since he had not been fed frozen bloodworms or daphnia for a while, I thought he might be getting constipated, so I fast him for a few days.

He doesn't seem to improve at all, and keep getting more and more bloated. I ended up taking him to the vet that specialises in fish in the city (which is about an hour away from where I live). Turns out that Mars wasn't constipated, but has fluid retention from kidney failure, which could be from bacterial infection or other causes. He was given some antibiotics and was instructed to move to a small jar without plants or filter, to minimise injury.

2 weeks of antibiotics without any improvement, I brought him back to the vet. This time since the fluid retention got so severe, the vet had to syringe it out. He got 0.4 ml out of him in total, but since his kidney already failed, fluid will start to build back up again.

I had to go to the countryside for 3 weeks, so my family had to take care of him during that time. As expected, the fuild came back, way worse than before. Yesterday he started to pinecone, then refuse to eat.

After 2 months of fighting, Mars passed away this morning, 24th December 2017. SIP my friend.

Some of my favorite stuff I did this year. We still got a little of December left, but I wanted to put together a little compilation of things I made. This year has been difficult in terms of dealing with cancer recurrence and figuring out how to support myself, but I have enjoyed making art for other people through commissions and also launching my co-created comic Blackwater with @jaymamon .
