FAN CRAFT FRIDAY: “Pause Aheadの主人公の狼男くん” by 子供狼

(The title translates roughly to, “The Werewolf Hero, Pause-Ahead-kun”)

Now, Tower of Heaven may get the lion’s share of indie love these days, but has anyone ever created fan art for it using honest-to-goodness felt and wire? I didn’t think so.

(If they have, please tell me.)

No, that honor goes to Pause Ahead, thanks to superfan 子供狼, who gives us a plush doll of Pauein even more adorable than the original. Not only did they take the time to include details such as Pauein’s cowlick, rosy cheeks, and iconic jumping pose, but even made a custom figure stand to keep it aloft! All the colors are also spot-on, which I can’t imagine is easy when working with fabric. 

As an erstwhile collector, physical fan works have always been my soft spot. Thanks to 子供狼 the amazing tribute, and see you next week!

Killswitch (DOS, 1989)

Continuation of the idea with recreating more accurately various creepypasta games that do not have any screenshots attached to them. Next is Killswitch

I actually struggled at first trying to figure out what the game genre for this even would be, as the story describes puzzles, survival horror, platforming, and even combat to some extent. one of my friends suggested that it sounds kinda like Prince of Persia and honestly that's just the only one that makes any sort of sense, and as such that's the one I used as the main inspiration.

One thing I got confused on is to how to demonstrate the shrinking/growing mechanic, that's also described in the story. Since sprite manipulation simply wasn't a thing back then, I figured it would have been just switching between like, three or so states, without any fancy gimmicks behind it.

Also the enemies here were 100% inspired by recent deltarune chapter boss
