6/27 - General Clean Up (1.12)
I’m actually kind of surprised at how well my posts have been doing. Please keep interacting with them if you’d like and send in some stuff you guys would like to see from a Wynonna Earp fan video game.
Here’s my update from the past like week. I apologize for not updating throughout the week, but work had me busy teaching 3, 2 hour long, classes of programming to kids. And you can guess that keeps me on my toes. Anyway, I was not able to make any significant changes to the game throughout the week. However, I worked on it yesterday (this post is a day late) and I got a few things done since my last update.
1. I was able to improve general connectivity of the scenes in the game, so when you’re brought into the menu screen, you can click play and the area where I’m going to put the Homestead pops up, and if you press the escape button in-game the options menu pops up, and so on.
2. I actually tried to make and implement a logo onto the menu screen, and... here’s how it went...
The logo is just bad... You can’t even see the guns when you go into playmode because the forest behind the menu screen is so dark...
So, here’s where I add a little Earper action into this. If you’re a graphic designer, or just someone who likes to draw, I’m opening my inbox up to possible logo contributions. If I pick yours, I’ll write you and then put it as the main screen logo for this game! All it really needs to have is the name “Peacemaker” since that’s what I’m calling the game.
I know the Earper community is very fan/family based, so I’d love to have some input or Earper art in the game too! I might even make like a wall of Earper art somewhere in the game for you to find 👀
3. The last part of the changes is that I’ve been stuck on trying to make mouse movement with your character. If you’re a game dev out there, any help will be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to make a 3rd person camera turn around the main character they’re looking at, in almost a spherical movement, so they can look around and then just press to go forward and it rotates the character in the way the camera was rotated.
If anyone knows any tips or tricks, let me know! But that’s probably something else I’ll work out today.
I plan to look more into how to make a saving system so you can save where you are in the game.
I also need to look into the mechanisms of a “back” button so you can get out of your options menu and go back to being in-game, so you don’t always have to quit to the main menu to change your settings every time.
Thank you to everyone who is reading and listening. I implore you to try and make a logo and submit it because I want to have a dialogue with the fandom I am making this for!
