I've taken a break from Ace Attorney content for a while, and coming back to it made me realize something... So has anyone else ever had some Mandela Effect shit with Maya's magatama like I have, or am I losing my mind? It's yellow. It always has been. But it feels wrong.

And it's not even a case of "Oh, you're used to seeing the green one, so that's what your brain thinks it is." No. In my head, it is deadass pink. I have no idea where that misconception even came from, but it certainly feels more right than it being fucking yellow.

I am once again thinking abt Apollo justice and making that everyone else’s problem

One Apollo HC that I am just absolutely obsessed with is Apollo having a very intense negative reaction to Phoenix getting his badge back. He’s not rlly around many attorneys or people who are particularly formal— Trucy is in costume and Ema and Klavier spit on the concept of a dress code. The last time he was really in an office or spending a lot of time around people in suits was with Gavin and Co., so when Phoenix gets his badge back something changes

Phoenix is back in his element— he looks more confident, more in control. He has a cool-toned suit and his dress shoes click on the floor like his sandals wouldn’t. He stands a little straighter. Sometimes you can see the defense attorney badge glinting in the office lighting. I think it changes the perception of Phoenix in Apollo’s mind but also scares him a little, bc he can’t just see Phoenix as that cryptic piano player or some husk of an attorney anymore. Phoenix radiates confidence, credibility, and charisma in a way that Apollo hasn’t seen in a long time, and so every time he hears the swish of fabric behind him or the click of dress shoes on the floor, every time there’s someone cool-toned and formal grabbing tea in his peripheral or picking up a pen he dropped, he can’t help but see someone else

YOOOO ok I thought this post was gonna go the route of Apollo being pissed that Phoenix did all that shit in 4-1 with the forged card and is now an attorney again and nobody is even talking about that shit. plus Apollo never forgave Phoenix for that yet!! where is the justice/closure there!!

but this. this is even more. you can kind of see the way Apollo is more deferential to Phoenix after he gets his badge back! it's kinda like the lone wolf who comes back to be the leader of the pack. and Apollo hates the fact that Phoenix is having that effect on him, he doesn't really want Mr. Wright as a capital m Mentor i think?? because in aa4, Apollo never really respected him all that much. and just the sheer effect that having the badge back has on him should NOT be making him feel deferential, right?

and just. the little things like Phoenix being able to finally afford a more expensive cologne, to be clean shaven, and showing up to the office every day with a much more confident and assertive energy. it bothers and flusters Apollo to no end bc this is SUCH a different person to who aa4 beanix was. aa4 beanix who would literally be sleeping on the office couch, snoring for an entire working day while letting Apollo and Trucy just run the office for him. and now boom Phoenix has no less than two junior employees and the pecking order around the office is now SO different than it was a year ago and Apollo kind of hates it. (and in a way, it seems unfair that Apollo has been fundamentally running this office and Phoenix just gets to slide back into his role as The Boss without any discussion or fanfare. like it's just assumed that that's what he was always going to do. Apollo is happy for him in a sense, but deep down, this stuff deeply bothers him, but he's afraid to bring it up.)

and oh. the comparisons to you-know-who are so obvious. it's been a while since Apollo has worked for a qualified attorney, but Phoenix and Kristoph are veeeery different bosses. Phoenix is actually pretty shocked when Apollo starts bringing him perfectly-done coffee every morning (Apollo is pretty shocked too actually but he just ends up doing it by instinct/habit I think once he sees Phoenix new look, hehe.) It really changes their whole dynamic and Phoenix can't figure out why Apollo is acting so damn weird and Apollo can't figure out his own feelings on the matter either and there's no way Apollo is going to say "I kind of saw you out of the corner of my eye this morning and I thought you were Kristoph Gavin for half a second"

It’s worst when you remember that it’s implied that Apollo idolized Phoenix when he was younger.

Which when you take his back story into consideration makes sense. He was raised for nine years of his life in the Kingdom if Khura’in by a defense attorney that bears an awful lot of similarities to Phoenix in personality and color pallet.

So just imagining Apollo meeting this man that’s been his hero only to be disappointed when he meets him because he’s not at all how he pictured him and lets be honest he’s kind of a dick in that game.

Then you get to Dual Destinies where Phoenix gets his badge back. He hires Athena and is significantly nicer to her, praising her. Completely different to Apollo who he wasn’t very nice to when he was hired and he never praised.

So you know have more angst for the angst pile.
