...Wait, wait.
Is this for real...?
I realize now that I only ever used Wikirby for the gallery and visual references, and while one cannot (and should not) force anyone to be a fan of a character they do not care for or simply cannot see in a nuanced light, this feels very much lacking in fairness.
In particular, I want to highlight the "From then on, he would be an ally to Kirby and King Dedede" section of Taranza's entry.
Because "From then on..." is as far as helping carry King Dedede in the end credits AND THAT IS IT. Taranza's appearances after that leaned way more in the direction of portraying him as villainous again, and his Star Allies motives are also deeply self-serving. It's bad if Susie wants to keep the HWC going under a new direction but Taranza trying to resurrect the queen who colonized (YES, COLONIZED) Floralia and terrorized its populace, harvesting their faces and bodies, is a sympathetic act of love we should all feel for.
I know everything thinks its Joronia he wants, but his phantasm spell particularly brings SECTONIA back. IN FULL TYRANT FORM.
This isn't a Taranza vent post. I love Taranza. I love him because he's fun and complicated. But while Susie gets the "she's complicated" takes, when it comes to sympathetic ones, the door gets shut in her face.
Where are all the children of neglectful/uncaring parents rallying to Susie's side to say how much they sympathize with that feeling of doing ANYTHING to get them to see you? Those who've had a family member suffer from debilitating mental health? Those who were forced to grow up too fast and had to suffocate their lost childhood? Those who work a soul-crushing job but have to pretend they like it?
Is the only thing we're allowed to like her for is her evil scientist vibes? Because that isn't even hugely implied to be her deal - she's the project manager, not the one with the knife - and that is extremely sad.
...Ugh. This made me more upset than I thought.
I'm going to go eat ice cream and sing karaoke in honor of Susie.
