I'M FREE FROM MY IMPRISONMENT
Apparently I follow 800+ blogs on this blog and I hate it here fhdbdbdbd
listen, i hate the gramgene plot line as much as anyone else. it's awful and makes no sense and i hate that they're doing this. a part of me still wants to believe there's more to this whole thing and that they wouldn't actively erase a canon pairing like this but with two episodes left i'm worried.
that aside, the director and writing team have confirmed that all the characters are queer. ain't a one of them straight. if i see one more person saying that gram being with eugene makes him straight and erases his queerness, i'm going to throw hands. it does not.
you can hate the pairing, that's perfectly fine. you can be mad that they've gone this way when they had a canon mlm pairing to use. that's entirely reasonable. but people have got realize a character having a male character having a girlfriend doesn't ever make them straight and continuing to assume so is harmful erasure of other sexualities. it isn't that they can only be gay or only be straight so please stop this.
that's also not including the fact that gay man can and have had girlfriends. in gram's case with the way he's being written clearly it's romantic for him - but just in general (and in the case of other shows) a boy having a girlfriend doesn't mean that he's not gay nor does it mean he's straight. stop erasing other sexualities.
/rant
This is all very true, but like-- you can't just say a character is queer and never bring it up in canon. They're literally pulling a Dumbledore here. If they at least made the character talk about their sexuality it'd be different.
I mean I still think Gram is bi but the series hasn't shown anything to support this. They could do it somewhere in the next episodes but for now he only showed attraction to girls, and the novel is so different that I feel like it doesn't count.
STOP š MAKING š BI/PAN š PEOPLE š PROVEš THEIR š QUEERNESS š
Even that ASIDE, he dated a trans woman in canon so thatās not enough for you??
Stop gatekeeping! Stop assuming straight until proven queer. Stop making bi/pan characters jump through hoops to prove their queerness! This makes me so angry!
Nuch is a woman. Gram dated a woman. That does not make him queer. It doesn't make him bi, it doesn't make him pan, it makes him someone attracted to women.
All of the scenes they spent "building" gramgene could have been spent on literally anything else. Developing the nuance and complexity of Sean and Dan's situation, for one. Expanding on Dan's character as a whole and not just making him the poster child of Guilt tm (ya know, like how he was up to ep9. Long live ep9, the last true hint of Dan being a multi-faceted character djdjdj). Like there was so much they could have done instead of inserting an awkward, stilted, and just plain uncomfortable relationship that makes no sense within the overall plot or the esrablished characters.
An other unpopular opinion I have about the confrontation is that I don't agree that Gram dismessed Sean's pain, aside from the historical lecture no one needed or cared about, but actually hit the nail of Sean's reaction to Dan confessing.
We know that Sean has/had violence in him, he was choking to death White few episodes ago cause he didn't follow the plan, or he was ready to beat Yok cause he dared to bring a cop to the garage, we know he uses violence as a sense of justice. So when Gram said "if this was right you would have done it yourself" that was the most on point Gram has been these last episodes; it's clear that with White's presence Sean has changed his way, even just the way he responds to injustice, and it showed here in this moment, in the old episodes he would have beat him up to a pulp but now he didn't do anything he asked Dan to do itself, because I do agree with Gram his way to see justice is changing and he knew deep down a life for a life is not the answer.
SONG JIOH as CHOI YUNA SEMANTIC ERROR (2022)
i trust you.
Another thing that got me angry about the whole thing with danyok (I can't even THINK about what they did to Gramblack anymore) was that Yok and Sean acted like nothing happened??? Like Sean deadass didn't tell the love of Yok's life to KILL HIMSELF??? And then they were all joking and laughing and Dan wasn't anywhere to be seen??? I wish Yok had gotten angry, that he told Sean to fight him and he WON.
Hmmm should I start my epic Gramblack fix it/overall not me fix it or should I do smth with danyok?
I need a new drama to watch to cleanse my palate of this episode
Any recs?
Anyone wanna talk about danyok I need to not think abt this episode fhdhdhdhd
Why have Gram gently wrapping the hand of the person he thought was Black? Why have him sniff White like that and say you smell different. Why have Yok say heās always with Black? Why make their friendship so important if it wasnāt ever important to Gram? Why have White say Gram loves Black? Why have the motorcycle scene? Why would Mond post photos of Gram and āBlackā if their friendship wasnāt important? But mostly why would the director like GramBlack tweets knowing that this is how it was going to go? They literally made the kindest character into a guy who not only kept pursuing a woman after she said no multiple times, but also a guy would you go after his friendās girlfriend/ex. Like, was Gram only hanging out with Black to be close to Eugene? It doesnāt make sense. Heās literally the reason Gram joined a gang that does dangerous things. Why? Just why? It makes no sense.
You can feel however you want but nothing makes it okay for anyone to take a canon gay/queer character, erase his love for another man and change his entire arc to have him chase after a girl who has repeatedly rejected him. It's not a good storytelling choice whatsoever.
Y'all I don't know what I'm more upset about, Gram's character assassination or whatever they are/might be doing with danyok
Danyok is so important to me and maybe that's dumb of me but like....idk I'm just so worried they're going to fuck it up like they did Gramblack
I'm just saying
They better not ruin danyok too because that's honestly just going to make me resent this show. Like they already ruined Gram's character and his relationship with Black. If they ruin danyok too for some shitty traitor arc, I'm just going to be so upset and angry and I don't think I'd be able to think of this show fondly at that point
The disappointment would be immeasurable
Like all of this emphasis on the love and devotion they BOTH have for each other?? The need for redemption and how redemption IS possible??? If they throw that away I would honestly feel sick to my stomach.
