IN THE EYES OF A DOG, my story for ShortBox Comics Fair this year!
Reggie the dog lives a cushy life in a cushy apartment. But when another human begins to spend more time with his human, Reggie isn’t sure about the new development at all.
Think lo-fi BL meetcute told from the perspective of a dog🐾👀
I’ve had my dog for 4 years now and not even once she’s given me a meetcute moment. Oh well.

A small selection of wholesome comic reads from this year's fair (reminder that the fair closes at end of day this Friday October 31st):
'Butter Beans Ball' by Yvonne Hsuan Ho: The Woodrow Bobcats are known for, let's face it, not being very good at basketball. With a pivotal fixture against a rival team coming up, their options are limited. Until they discover their new star player: a calico cat! What makes this great is we never find out where Butter Beans came from (he's a cat and not the talking kind!) or how he became so good at ball, but we immediately love him nonetheless. You'll believe a cat can play basketball!
'Crushes' by @apitnobaka: Three high-schoolers navigate their crushes on one another. A story told with tonnes of charm and a refreshing maturity: life -and resolutions- are equally about not getting what you want and learning to continue.
'In the Eyes of A Dog' by @pearlperoni: Reggie the dog loves his life with his human -until things start to change when a new person -who his human reacts strangely around- enters the equation. A dog AND a cute little BL -what more can you want?
'Puca' by Travis Chen: Puca is a small orc with a big dream: to become a blacksmith. When he's not taken seriously by his fellow orcs, Puca ventures out with only his faithful dog as company, on a journey to do things his own way. Such a range of emotions elicited in this beautiful wordless story.
'Despite, despite, despite' by C.le.mieux: Animal characters and gorgeous colours belie a very pertinent theme in a comic that follows a day in the life of its main characters: how do we continue in the overwhelming face of the world's problems -and our own.
It's October again, which means the annual ShortBox Comics Fair (@shortboxcomicsfair) is currently going on until October 31st! Like previous years, several amazing new comics have debuted, which is why I wanted to highlight my personal favourites here.

I did this drawing when I was binge-watching Anne with an E on Netflix when it first came out, but had forgotten about it till now. I really liked it, although there were bits of dialogue that felt too modern. I guess that’s a weird thing to note, but it is a period drama after all.
