idk what neurodivergent young adult needs to hear this but you are NOT supposed to give 100% at your job. I've gotten more promotions and raises since I started giving 40-60%, which my evil CEO uncle informed me is what bosses actually expect when they say 110%. My mental health has improved tremendously. I've spent 2 out of 5 workdays secretly writing my novel for the last 2 years and I've never been more respected and appreciated. Also--when you see glaring wasteful errors in the company's operating systems, say absolutely nothing! Embrace inefficiency. It is your friend in this capitalist hellscape.
Look, I made a collection of Fandom cakes that I found!
I like cake.
What about Homestuck.
Homestucks aren’t sorry.

no actually you know what? i'm thinking that the whole joke of 'Damian calls Jason his younger brother because Jason's age reset in the pit' is very very good. but i want more.
Damian will die on the hill that Jason Peter Todd is his son, and he takes no arguments on the matter.
listen i just really like those AU's where Jason is practically comatose/zombie-like when he first comes out of the pit, especially when Talia then assigns him as Damian’s protector because the only muscle-memory instinct Jason keeps is 'protect those smaller than him', because i really like the dynamic of Damian then having to be the one that takes up the mantle of helping Jason with everything he doesn't remember how to do.
Damian spends all day every day with Jason at his side. he washes Jason, dresses him, teaches him how to walk and move again, to speak and communicate, write and draw; and because Jason is Damian's bodyguard, he follows Damian around like a lost puppy. to Jason he's just slowly coming back to himself as a person while doing his job by protecting this kid--but Talia never told Damian that Jason was his protector, she just told Damian to keep Jason alive. And so everything Jason does, in Damian's mind (especially with the added context of Damian teaching him how to be alive again) is the actions of a vulnerable being looking to their guardian out of comfort. and of course, nobody else would fit the bill of guardian but Damian, the person who is practically raising Jason from re-birth.
Jason follows Damian around the compound because he knows he needs to protect Damian--Damian sees this as Jason wandering around after the only person he feels safe with, the person who looks after him, his guardian.
Jason watches over Damian while he trains with his tutors--Damian knows it must be scary for a child to be left alone in a place such as the compound; it's only natural for Jason to prefer watching his father train than be alone.
Jason takes care of Damian, ensuring he eats and sleeps--well Damian raised Jason by doing those same things, it's only natural that his child pick up on the only love language he is exposed to, trying to turn it onto his parent.
it goes on and on and on; everything Jason does with the mindset of looking after his new baby brother, Damian takes as a son showing appreciation for his father. it takes like. a solid six months for Jason to be self aware enough to clock that Damian is literally calling him 'son' and 'my child' and by then it's too late. Damian absolutely will not let it go.
i imagine it's one of those things where like, Jason tried to argue it at first but Damian was really insistent, and eventually Jason gave up because it was like 'what the hell, it's not like the kid has much that sparks joy in his life anyway, might as well give him this' and starts ignoring it, letting it happen. and then after a while he realises how much it seems to agitate Talia and Ra's and the whole thing becomes kinda funny so he starts calling Damian 'dad' and 'old man' and this delights Damian which encourages him even further and the whole thing just kinda ends up being one of those jokes that you go along with for so long that it's not even that funny anymore and you just do it out of instinct.
like--to be clear Jason is still the mental guardian figure out of the two of them, and he takes care of Damian. it's just that Damian's in complete denial about this and instead chooses to believe it's the other way around, which Jason lets him believe because it's kinda funny to watch peoples reaction to it. like at dinner, when one of the servants will bring out some kind of dessert and Jason will just turn to Damian and go 'can i have dessert now?' and Damian will look at his plate and say 'finish your potatoes' and Jason will sigh before listening. to Damian this is normal, and he does this because of course Jason would look to him for permission, that's his child; meanwhile Jason is watching Talia stare at them both across the table like she's about to call a fucking exorcist and internally he is just Busting The Fuck Up just waiting for the moment Damian decides it's his bedtime.
i also just wanna point out how funny this would be in Gotham, when Bruce takes in his biological son who for some reason seems to HATE him but refuses to say why and after a couple months of Damian treating him like dirt to the point where even Tim and Dick are confused he finally gets Damian to tell him what the fuck he did and Damian is just like 'you are the reason my son is in such mental pain.' and Bruce is just like.
what.
"did mother not tell you you are a grandfather?"
"w- NO??? YOU'RE ELEVEN WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU'RE A FATHER- ARE YOU OK?"
"of course. i consented to being my child's father from the beginning."
"ELEVEN YEAR OLDS AREN'T ALLOWED TO CONSENT TO THAT."
and Bruce is. having a fucking panic attack about the whole thing until eventually they run into Red Hood on patrol and Damian straight-faced tells him that this 200+ lbs clearly adult man is the grandson in question and he just fucking. mentally checks out for about 20 minutes.
for the record Jason has never been so excited in his life. he fully intends on coming around the manor in-mask twice a week from now on just so he can call Bruce 'grandfather' and Dick 'uncle' while they stare at him like he's the fucking predator from Predator.
meanwhile Tim found Jason's 'baby book' under Damian's bed like a week ago which is comprised of just photos of Jason at sixteen years old, identity visible clear as day, doing shit like training, trying to figure out how to use the stove, practicing spelling, throwing spit balls at Ra’s; all taken by seven year old Damian that are marked as 'my son's first year <3', and he was genuinely so fucking baffled about how the fuck things could have spiralled to this specific point that he's just decided to go along with it and pretend he doesn't know. that is not his fucking circus, keep those monkeys away from him.
I am a bit spooked by the vintage pajama set that I got second hand yesterday.
It wasn't until I arrived back home and tried the shirt on that I realized there was a whole chunk torn out of the bottom of it. Like, jaggedly chopped away with scissors or a knife. Just on the one side.
Then, this morning, I decided that I would just crop and hem the whole thing to make it even, rather than make the trip back to the thrift shop to return it. It was only $5, so I was willing to cut my losses and make the most of it.
Except, while I was measuring the fabric, I noticed drops of what is almost definitely blood right above the tear...
I'm worried that someone killed someone else while wearing this night set. 😀
(Update and clarifications)
Alright, so, upon further inspection, there were blood spots EVERYWHERE.
It freaked me out, and I decided that the shirt was beyond saving. I have thrown it away and washed my hands thoroughly.
Clarification, because there seems to be some misunderstanding of what I meant:
I am not saying that I am scared someone was murdered while wearing this shirt, there was not enough blood, and I don't believe the set would have been donated had it belonged to a murder victim. I'm saying that I am scared someone MURDERED someone while wearing these clothes, and that the choppy, violent arc taken out of the bottom right side was
A. From the person sustaining a defensive injury from the victim
B. Torn away in the process
C. The area that got the most blood on it, requiring the wearer to hastily remove it prior to getting rid of the clothing.
It would not be an intelligent move, but it is a freaky configuration. Terrible, terrible vibes.
Sad news today, the Brilliant David Burke has sadly passed. Thoughts and prayers to Mr Burkes family and friends he will be missed 🖤

*distant explosion*
Jason: OOOOOH-! HOLY SHIIIIITTTT,
Jason: fuck yeah- come on bitch, come at me, get- yeah that's it, that's it, just-
*another distant explosion*
Jason: OH FUCK WHY DO YOU HAVE GRENADES? *loud cackle* COME AT ME YOU FUCKING WHORE!
*faint screams*
Jason: *evil cackles*
Tim: ...dude, do you, like... need back up?
Jason: OH- oh, fuck. hey Red. *gunshot* ok so i'm gonna be honest and say i completely forgot i was in the open line. my bad, i can leave if i'm being too loud.
Tim: ...no, no, it's fine. glad to see you're... having fun. and you don't need help?
*distant explosion*
Jason: nah you good kid, me and my evil-busting swords can handle it.
Damian: you don't use those as much as you should.
Jason: i know, right? you'd think there'd be more evil in Gotham. *distant metal shwing*
Tim: isn't evil as a concept completely subjective anyway- like what the fuck are the parameters for those things?
Jason, dismissive: i'uno, *absent screams and gunshots*
Damian, humming: as far as i can remember, Ducra told me that it was magic based and connected to the soul of the user; so it's most likely just what Hood considers to be evil himself. i found the information hub by the way, i'm downloading the contents of the computer system right now.
Tim: cool--we got time anyway, i knocked out all the guards. hey Hood, what did these guys do that made you decide they were evil?
Jason: *fighting noises* *grunt* -hm? one of 'em ate mayonnaise straight from the packet.
Tim: ...you are way too corrupt for the amount of power you have.
Jason: it made my blood burn green again, Red. it was horrible.
Damian: what on earth are you doing right now anyway, Hood?
Jason: oh- i'm tearing down this massive child trafficking ring. been huntin' it for weeks.
*a pause*
Tim: *dryly* and the fucking mayo was what did you in.
Jason: -you should of seen it, he was sucking on the packet like it was power gel.
Tim: *noise of disgust* yeah i don't need visuals, Hood.
Damian: i have the flash drive, Red where are you? We should get out before anybody else shows up.
Tim: cafeteria. do you want a pudding cup?
Damian: do they have banana flavour?
Tim: who the fuck chooses banana? Hood get your swords over here, Robin just chose banana over chocolate and strawberry.
Damian: fuck you.
Jason: honestly i don't mind banana. just anything but pistachio.
Tim: ok- you do not deserve those swords, your opinions are trash. what was the name of the- that old woman that gave Hood the swords, what was her name?
Damian: Ducra.
Tim: that's the bitch. Ducra fucked up, he was the wrong guy. hey- by the way- i thought Ducra lived in like, a whole other place than the actual league base?
Jason: *rapid gunshots* yeah you fuckin' try throwin' that grenade, bitch, see what happens-
Damian, dry: she was. the hidden home of the All-Caste was separate from the League of Assassins, out in the Himalayas. she just owed my grandfather a few favours.
Jason, distracted: -eh? that's what they told you? nah, habibi, she ain't owe Ra's shit. it was a whole thing- she requested me. it was the other way round, Ra's owed her; i was a sacrifice.
Damian: why the fuck would she request you?
Jason: fuck you, i'm cool.
Tim: -whatever the reason, if she wasn't part of the league and only trained Jason, what the fuck were you doing there?
Damian: because-
Jason, instant: *loudly* nu-uh. you aren't allowed to talk about your childhood on casual terms anymore, Robin.
Damian: *offended noise*
Tim: what? why?
Jason: because he keeps fucking ruining league days. he's a damn oversharer and we're running out of truths in the deck.
Tim: ...that is objectively a good thing. i hate that game, it makes me suffer.
Jason: which is exactly why we all keep demanding you play it- *gasp* HOLY SHIT IS THAT A BAZOOKA- WHAT KIND OF FUCKING CHILD TRAFFICKING RING-
*explosion*
*a beat*
*another beat*
Damian: ...Hood?
Tim, calmly: see, Robin? this is what happens when you choose banana pudding. i'm taking you strawberry, suck it up.
i like to think that every now and then jason will get inspired by undercover boss and decide to infiltrate his crime alley subordinates while in his civilian get up to see how everybody acts when red hood isn't around. i also like to think it backfires when one of his guys recognises bruce wayne's dead son within the ranks and suddenly there's a massive conspiracy that red hood is cloning dead bodies to get workers for his gangs, and jason realises he cant tell them they're wrong because if word gets out that jason todd ISN'T dead and he isn't a clone then it might get back to the bats and he doesn't want to deal with that.
so now every time he's there as hood and his men have to 'dispatch' somebody, they'll bring him the dead body for potential cloning purposes like a cat dropping the dead mouse it hunted on the front steps of it's owners house. and jason just has to kinda... thank them. and desperately try not blow his own cover.
there's a moment where he gets into a fight as red hood with nightwing and batman over coming into his territory and halfway through the fight his walkie talkie sparks up and all three of them hear clear as day as one of jason's henchmen says 'boss we got the body of a 41 year old war vet here, fresh off the morgue table. we know that's your type, you want us to bring it to your usual spot so you can... inspect him?'
dick and bruce give him such weird looks and jason gets so embarrassed that he just leaves and lets them infiltrate crime alley for the night.
So. Tyr, my dog, is a Great Pyraneese. This is important because this breed is known to be smart. Not in the way a German Shepherd or border Collie is smart, and wanting to please a human; Great Pyrs are independent minded and bred to Be Management of herds when a human might not be around.
Anyway.
It has been very pleasant out. We had the windows cracked and left them cracked when we went to work. This has never been an issue before.
My darling spouse was working on a job in a small town about a mile from our place. He was getting some stuff from the work van when he sees a large white dog prancing along.
"Huh." He thinks. "That looks an awful lot like.....TYR WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE."
Tyr, delighted that she has Found Father, bounds up happily and gets in the work van to give face kisses.
"GIRL NO WHAT." Kev says, scrambling to go let the client know that he has to take the fucking criminal back home real quick.
Turns out she discovered that a window can be shoved open with a determined snoot, and a window screen is not as strong as 80 pounds of muscular dog. And went for an adventure.
I got a call at this point while I was doing payroll.
"BABE WE NEED TO BABY GATE ALL THE FUCKING WINDOWS." My spouse says.
"....okay??" I say, and then get the story. I swore a bunch.
Anyway my dog is a criminal escape artist and we have to baby proof the fucking windows now

Jason: *snicker* come on, it's fine. patrol's basically over, the kids are all back at the cave, the entire city is peaceful, you can take one sip.
Bruce, tired: for the fourth time, i don't drink on the job, Hood.
Jason: come onnnn~ we haven't had some adult-batfamily hang out time for ages. it's the only time i ever like you, you gotta partake.
Bruce: *grunt* i'm still Gotham's protector.
Jason: ok and you're also my legal adoptive father, so take the stick out of your ass and have a beer with me. come on- come onnnn, i got a spare flaaaaassskkk~
*a long beat of silence*
Jason: come on- that's it- open up, i'll tip it in, you just gotta swallow, there we go,
Dick, amused: you have got the be the only person on this planet that can peer-pressure Batman into drinking alcohol, Jay.
Bruce: -ok, no, take it away, i'm not falling for this.
Jason: DICK. I WAS SO CLOSE.
Dick: *wheeze* i'm sorry- i didn't mean to-!
Jason: YOU SUCK.
Dick: *cackle* just gimmie the other flask, don't waste it.
*faint sloshing*
Bruce, resigned: you shouldn't be doing this in your suits, if something were to happen...
Dick: B, buddy, we've been sneaking alcohol into our bat-water-bottles since Jason was first adopted. we know how to swing and drink.
Bruce: i still don't know how i never caught you,
Jason, mouth slightly full: 'oo were- *cough* you were a very self centred guardian back then, man. i could do anything, you weren't fuckin' looking.
Bruce: *sigh* yes, well, mistakes were made.
Jason: *laughs* you're good, we had fun.
Dick, wistful: man, we did have some fucking fun. i still remember- Jay, do you remember when you snuck out to that party and B found out you were gone in the middle of the night-?
Jason: OH- oh, the time that i came back at like three AM and he'd moved ALL THE FURNITURE?
Bruce: *light snort*
Dick: *wheeze* yeah-
Jason: fucking- i was gone for like four hours and you moved all the furniture in the front section of the house into the back ballroom so i got back and thought i was in a fucking fever dream, everywhere empty,
Dick: *high-pitched, giggling* and he- he told you that a bunch of people had broken in and stolen all of our stuff-!
Jason, mocking: 'well maybe if Robin had been around then he could have stopped the crime, but apparently he had better things to do tonight-', *cackle*
Bruce, clearly amused: ah, yes. how long did i hide our furniture for?
Jason: dude- like two weeks! you kept coming up with excuses as to why i shouldn't go further into the manor than usual- you slept on the fucking floor.
Bruce: listen- *chuckle* listen-
Jason: NO FUCK OFF YOU CAN'T DEFEND THAT! THAT WAS MEAN!
Dick: god- you know honestly, i think we were too stubborn back then to say it out loud, but shit B, you gave as good as we did- you were funny.
Bruce: i was childish and didn't understand how to be a parent, Dick. i was bitter, and i was taking it out on the people i was supposed to lead.
Dick: yeah yeah- i'm not saying you didn't have failings within your moral responsibilities, we all did; but looking back, you did not get enough credit for the shit you used to pull.
Jason: i will admit i laughed hard at some of the shit he did. to this fucking day, one of my favourite memories from the first year after i got adopted was that weekend you came back to the manor for a big case bust, and halfway through patrol you got into that huge argument and swung back to Bludhaven so you left all your shit at the manor, and B- *wheeze* and B,
Dick: we got into so many arguments, Jace. you need to clarify-
Bruce: he uh, *audibly holding back laughter* i think he's talking about the time you left your car here, so i- *snort*...i sold it.
Dick: ...oh my god- I REMEMBER THAT!
Jason: *still wheezing*
Dick: MY FUCKING BENTLY, THAT SHIT WAS A CLASSIC.
Bruce, unapologetic: i know, ...and i gave it to one of the gardeners at Drake Manor for fifty dollars and a pepsi.
Jason: *crying* oh my- hold me,
Bruce: you're gonna- Jaylad, you're gonna fall off the roof, come here- *snickering*
Dick: i- B i was so mad back then, you have no idea. like it- *laugh* i did not find it funny. i had no respect for the comedic genius of your moves.
Bruce: yeah, well, we've all grown since then. that was the point, wasn't it? being better for the kids?
Jason: it would be funny if you sold Tim's car though,
Bruce, admonishing: Jason,
Jason: *cackle*
the world's smallest carnivore is called the "least weasel" 😭😭 i'm dying but like if it's the smallest carnivore then it sure is the least amount of weasel you can have 😭😭😭
Look at him: this is absolutely the least amount of weasel you can have
To really put it in perspective
Immediately I love him
those are not even Toe Beans anymore they are Grains of Sand
look. i don’t think my stretch marks are beautiful. i don’t think they’re tiger stripes or natural tattooos. i don’t think my acne is beautiful. i don’t think the bags under my eyes are beautiful. i just think they’re human. and i don’t think i have to be beautiful all of the time in order to be accepted and loved and sucessful. i don’t think every small detail of my outer appearence needs to be translated into prettiness.
fun fact: this POV is actually called “body neutrality” and it’s SO MUCH more accessible/realistic for a lot of people. it’s based on the idea that the way we look is the least interesting/important thing about who we are, and that our bodies are worthy of respect regardless if they fit the mold of the current beauty ideals.
I'm re-watching the Haunting of Hill House and I have to say, one of my favorite scares is Nell at Steve's apartment. There's something I always love about those moments when a character is doing something mundane, and then the big horrifying scare bursts in, violating the normalcy. A huge, shattering burst of terror that cuts through an everyday moment. Tainting the safety of the ordinary.
It's just really wonderful how they layered this one, with what Steve is treating as a normal conversation turning into something horrifying, and that horrified understanding turning into a visceral scare.
And then after the scare, you get that moment to come down from it, while Hugh's voice can still be heard faintly through the phone, in the otherwise silent room.
It's just a really beautifully well-done jump scare.
thinking about how the house killed nell as a child. how she was dead from the moment they stepped into it. how she died because she saw herself die and how theres no reality where nell enters the house as a child and doesnt die as an adult. because she saw herself dead and it sealed her fate. which means theres no reality or choices she couldve made where she didnt die at the end of the road. the house killed nell long before she actually died. it was a ticking time bomb and no way to diffuse it. she died because she saw herself die which then killed her which she saw which killed her which she saw which
finishing my Haunting of Hill House rewatch and I’m having so many feelings about the dad who failed his kids so much in life still protecting them in the finale in the house. saving his eldest by telling him to look at me, and not at the ghosts, to look at me and not at the inescapable thing leaning inches away, and if he does that, he’ll be safe, if he lets his father’s eyes hold him, he’ll be safe. no im not having feelings about Bruce Wayne here why would you think that—
The answer to the question of if the Cranes are mentally ill or if the house is haunted being "two things can be true" is so interesting and clever to me. Olivia had migraines and episodes before they moved in, Luke has been abusing drugs as self medication for at the very least ptsd but also likely some level of OCD, the signs of depression are scattered around Nell's apartment.
But also ghosts are real, no question. Sure Nell never would have gone back to the house if she hadn't stopped taking her pills or if her therapist hadn't given her bad advice, but once she was there the ghosts were in full force. They literally put the noose around her neck, no metaphor. Just because the Cranes are mentally ill, that doesn't mean the ghosts didn't exist, all it did was make their job easier.
The Fall of the House of Usher is many things and I'm making a conscious choice to not scream about every single one of them rn, but what left me staring at a wall in tears is just... kindness. Death was kind. She gave every choice, every reason to stop. She would take these kids anyway but she also regretted having to take them like that. She cared when nobody else would, even though they kept making the wrong choices.
She's never cruel for cruelty's sake. She wasn't cruel to Lenore. She just sent a child to sleep as lovingly as she could, with kind words and kinder touch.
And I don't even know how to express the absolute heartbreak with blinding warmth among the cracks, when Death herself kneels before one man, worst man, honest man, who refused her offer – and thanks him with such respect.
Mike Flanagan, you fucking did it again. Carla Gugino, you... I don't even have words for you. That's a whole-ass masterpiece of human soul, meaning, and searching right there.
Kiss Death with kindness in the end
And when she parts
You part as friends
