It’s the last week of Summer, though it already feels like fall. I worked on this mixtape for months, never really feeling satisfied with it, constantly changing things around. It wasn’t until I had a realization a couple weeks ago that I was able to put it all together: This is the last Mixtape.
It wasn’t out of frustration or anything, it just sort of dawned on me.
I started making these 10 years ago, in my early twenties not knowing what I was doing, adrift on currents out of my control. But everything ends at some point. As all of my friends from back then slowly get married, have kids, or otherwise move on with life, I feel that shoreline of youth drifting further away.
I hope you’ve enjoyed these as much as I’ve enjoyed making them. And I hope that when you listen to them in the future, they take you back in time to that idealized movie of a perfect summer. It’s all just memories now.
