one of my pet peeves about a lot of fantasy is that you're introduced to a setting where magic users are persecuted and despised by the masses and it's framed as this cruel superstition held by ignorant and backward peasants but then you actually look closer and realise the peasants have every reason to hate mages
Ese hombre by Rocío Jurado is such a high for women of all ages, no matter your music taste. Insulting men brings us all together, doesn't it?
really good reaction image for when you have a bad take that everyone hates
I find people's ignorance disturbing sometimes.
Some woman asked me whether there's anything that grows on my island. I said what do you mean? Everything. She said no really? I said everything. Both my grandpas were farmers, what are you talking about. I grew up on the juiciest oranges, blackberries, sour apples (my beloved), peaches, pears, mangos. The grapes that grew in my grandfather's garden were small, black and sweet like candy, I used to just grab a handful when I felt like it. She said well ok, anything other than sugar right? Girl we have like three rum distilleries. Sugar used to be the monocultive that took a big chunk of land, it only stopped being so because it wasn't as profitable for the companies as importing the sugar from countries with cheaper labour and more extensive plantations. Same as with tobacco, we used to grow it and manufacture it. My mom's first job was making cigars. The fact that we have a tourism based economy instead of an agricultural/industrial one is a) a result of corrupt local governance seeling our land to any capitalist that they bumped into, b) a result of the dictatorship promoting the expansion of tourism as a whitewashing effort and c) a shame. But in all seriousness, what did you think we were eating for thousands of years? Rocks?
Fellas is it gay to like a woman wearing a cap?
"boymode" : woman wearing a full face of make up, false eyelashes and a crop top.
The standards of femininity are getting insane.
I ran across "white women naming their pets after asian foods" discourse and I do not want to jump in and argue with a bunch of room temperature IQs but I need to get the thoughts out or I'm gonna burst.
In english, pet names tend to be 1-2 syllables, typically with the stress on the first syllable. They tend to fall into a handful of thematic categories, and "food item" is one of the major categories (alongside "adjectives" and "pop culture reference"). Which is why you'll also see a lot of pets named tater, dumpling, gouda, taco, biscuit, poutine, muffin, butters, cupcake, pepper, peanut, nacho, noodle, pumpkin, etc.
A lot of asian foods that are popular in the west (miso/tofu/kimchi/sushi/sake/boba) therefore sound good as pet names. Yeah it's a little bit trendy. Asian food in general is trendy in the US right now (can't speak to other countries). During the 2010s bacon craze, there were a lot of pets named Bacon.
It's literally not that deep. Check out this list of dog names from 1460. This is barely recognizable as english, and the names trend a little longer, but I gently draw your attention to "Garlik," "Salmon," and "Lamprey."

That’s a super light story huh? My great grandfather got killed in action from a land mine to protect this country. If you don’t wanna respect the history or stand for a national anthem😁then leave to your peaceful home and fuck right off
How did your great grandpa stepping on a landmine protect this country

Happy Memorial Day
When three civil guards kidnapped my grand-uncle from his home in the middle of the night to throw him down a cliff, he took two of them with him. He did more for his country by taking two fascists out than any american on foreign land ever did. ✌️
This is asking only about paying another person in real life to do physical sex acts with you. This is not asking about buying porn/onlyfans/sex toys/etc.
Would you think less of someone if you found out that they paid for sex (actual physical acts)?
No
It depends on the specifics (who they hired, what sex acts, how many times, etc)
Yes

the notes of this post are almost all "no, as long the person was super niceys to the sex worker and it was all consensual and the sex worker got paid well and and and" and none of you people have a fucking clue about the reality of prostitution. sex buyers should be executed by firing squad.
nobody buys sex because they're interested in having a fully consensual, mutually pleasant experience with someone they view as an equal.
Average leftists truly think that either prostitutes are some kind of non-human beings that are happy to have sex with anyone at any time in any position or that rape of a prostitute doesn't count if she's paid for it
Back when I was more in the liberal "feminism" sphere (as a teen / very young adult) someone asked me "would you ever pay for sex" and I was inmediately like "no, because I'd only want to have sex with people who are attracted to me and also want to" and the whiplash I gave myself took me out of the pro-"sex work" mentality very quickly. Of course, genius, you feel repulsed by it because you are not a rapist.

I want to participate in regular conversations from time to time but all I've got is "did you watch that documentary on vulture funds buying entire inhabited buildings in bulk for comparatively dirt cheap and then pricing the current tenants out of their houses?" or "did you see that a protest full of neonazis tried to charge into the governmental building, and there were like approximately seven cops defending it from a coup d'etat?" or "have you noticed how the media keeps calling far-right influencers 'journalists' and meanwhile real journalists with respected careers are suddenly 'quitting' due to 'disagreements with the changes in editorial line'?" or "the other day I tried to report that a local newspaper published an article written by Chat-GPT, which was evident because they didn't bother to edit out the line where it asks for further prompt, and discovered that it is apparently not illegal" or "All our judges are obviously working for the same people, it's not us, and they don't see the point of hiding it anymore" or "the right to abortion has been unquestioned for my entire adult life and lately it seems that more and more politicians are bringing it up for no reason, which is a direct threat to all women" or "the working class is approaching levels of poverty close to those of the sixties and seventies and we're not even realizing it. Have you noticed that on average, your generation is poorer than your mother's?" or "where has everyone who cares gone?" or "my cousins, who I grew up with like siblings, used to be good-natured people and I'm seeing them defend the most vile stances idiotically, against their self-interest, out of spite" or "I have to work all day with people who come here earning over twice our income, buy us out of our islands and then complain that we are not fluent enough in English to cater to them or that we don't truly appreciate how paradisiac all this is" or "my home used to be welcoming and accepting and it breaks my heart to see everyone become more hateful and stupid each day, it's like something beautiful died and no one else seems to see it" or "did you see the activists that arrived back home after being kidnapped and tortured by a genocidal state, only to be beaten up at the airport, by their own police?" or "that woman shouldn't have died. It's always that woman shouldn't have died" or "we need homes and dignity, and everyone who takes that from us should pay a high price for it".

Local LGBTIQ+ organisation LEGABIBO welcomed the government’s move, describing it as “a necessary and long-overdue step toward restoring dignity and aligning our legal framework with constitutional values of equality and human rights.” The group said the change sends “a clear message that LGBTIQ+ persons are not criminals, and that their lives and relationships deserve protection, not punishment.” LEGABIBO noted that the colonial-era provisions had long cast a shadow over the lives of LGBTIQ+ people in the country.
Congrats! Botswana!!!
i need to come up with a way to say “i mean like, movies for grownups” that doesn’t make me feel like a villain
*peeks in the replies* *gets really nervous and locks my house up and leaves*
I don't think "movies for grownups" is a useful category anyway, it's far too broad. What do you want to watch movies about?
sex, violence, curse words, taxes, day jobs, alcoholism, dating, murder, divorce, debt, dead-end retail jobs, weird little humiliations, chain smoking outside diners, bad landlords, chronic back pain, popping painkillers like tic tacs, getting ghosted, shitty apartments, grief, gambling addictions, funerals, office politics, sexual repression, bad tattoos, eviction notices, insomnia, emotional affairs, weird coworkers, long commutes, bankruptcy, custody battles, compulsive lying, stalking, body horror, ugly crying, layoffs, guilt, addiction recovery, moral compromise, black mold, road rage, nihilism, awkward funerals, disappointing sex, cohabitation, cults, labor strikes, failing marriages, religious trauma, tax fraud, pyramid schemes, jealousy, cigarettes for dinner, bad breakups, middle management, panic attacks, community theater, DUI checkpoints, unplanned pregnancies, messy love, manipulative love, missing persons, steaming wallpaper, prescription side effects, chronic loneliness, inheritance disputes, estranged siblings, and occasionally, if i’m feeling Whimsical, eating human meat
