Story time: well basically in most Asian country English is a compulsory subject and you have to pass a national English test to graduate from highschool in my country.

I was in 3rd grade when I started learning English but didn't take it seriously until 6th grade. Till now I have had 8-9 years of serious study of it, however everyday I am reminded of how my knowledge of the language is still so shallow in the vast pool of its vocabulary.

Just the other day, I was introduced to the word 'derelict' and didn't know its meaning so I looked it up, and there it was, the motherf*cker "same meaning as abandoned" sitting there mocking me. I don't know why they opted to use that word instead of the more popular and commonly used 'abandoned'; I suppose they wanted to sound like a pompous ass from the 17th century but go off I guess 🤷‍♀️
