(head)canon that kunikida is the only one who carries a gun with him. headcanon its because kyouka isn't interested in killing. yosano thinks her giant knives are better. kenji is far too young. atsushi isn't trained. fukuzawa strictly uses his katana. and finally. dazai, tanizaki, and rampo are banned from guns because they would shoot anyone who inconveniences/annoys them.

Taking it as canon that Chuuya listened through one of Dazai's gayass speeches and when a second one came rolling in, decided to shut him up with a bullet instead of being subjected to his dramatics again 😭

It's the "that's what makes me love you!"/"ew no" moment in the fifteen novel all over again

maybe mediocrity isn’t wrong. maybe you don’t need to be the best at everything you do. maybe you don’t need to be the best at anything you do. it’s ok to simply do things because you enjoy doing them. its ok to not want to advance in your job. nothing has to be a competition. you don’t need to be better than anyone. you can do things just because they’re fun. you don’t need to read up on the history, and know everything about it. its ok to just exist. its ok.

Dazai most definitely did not know Chuuya wasn't a vampire until he got "shot"

My reasoning for this, Chuuya saying "Dammit boss must've superglued these" fully implying that Mori sent him and made the plan for him to pretend to be a vampire.

Dazai isn't some all knowing genius and he was in Meursault since before the whole vampirism thing began. And Mori isn't a fool either, he is fully capable of making a plan good enough to fool both Dazai and Fyodor

Sure Dazai could have suspected that Chuuya was still human from the beginning (maybe he did) but I doubt it. He likely only realised because the bullet didn't go past his skull and his quick thinking made him know to go along with the act.

Also it would take away a lot of the development that Dazai had if everything was an act from the beginning.

I don't doubt his acting capabilities, but his heartfelt speeches as well as his reactions seemed too real to be fake. If it was then that would just be a real cheap cop out ending for this arc

Dazai not knowing makes sense, his entire flashback sequence and his reactions to everything pre elevator fall are genuine. He admits to not knowing everything and the only plan he *knows* is taking place actively is "Ranpo san will do something" and "Ango and I are communicating". His plans are going about in real time.

Mori's plan was to send Chuuya to Meursault in a halloween costume, I highly doubt he gave Chuuya detailed instructions as to "first show up, fool fyodor, get drowned, try to drown dazai, get dazai in an elevator, then save dazai, then shoot dazai. And Dazai never had a means to contact anyone but Ango. He couldn't even directly talk to Chuuya till the drowning and even that was through an intercom.

I genuinely think Chuuya was entirely on his own in the plan outside of being sent to Meursault by Mori. Keeping in mind that Mori and Ango have been in contact before. Even if Ango were to send Chuuya in via Mori, Dazai had no real way of knowing that. Which means that till Chuuya manipulated the elevator Dazai didn't know Chuuya was in there and was attempting to get him to either snap out of it or give him a genuine goodbye speech before backing out.

While I am of the opinion that Dazai didnt know Chuuya was on his side till the elevator drop, the headshot also makes sense. We see the bullet go through his shoulder and dent the wall behind him alongside the blood splatters in the manga and Dazai's speech seems a lot more honest there. The bullet not going through might be when he finally got 100% confirmation that Chuuya was never a vampire.

Like don't get me wrong, being critical and disappointed is valid given that this has been dragged for over a year now. But I dont think it makes sense to jump the gun so fast when we are literally here from the pov of an outsider looking in. Which we usually are in the case of Dazai and skk. Not to mention this is probably like a hyper condensed version of what actually happened.
