Oh man, Taira. I want to wrap him in a warm blanket and protect him at all cost.
His and Azuma's storyline is amazing, I can't stop reading. It's just too good and heartbreaking and it makes me insane.

Yeah, I can't get over Golden Kamuy. Everything about this manga is just so perfect. You ever loved a piece of media so much you wanted to eat it? The art style is so unique, the action so well done, the comedy timing on point? The drama? Delicious!! The horrors and psychology? CHEF'S KISS! And holy shit the end!! You know how many manga I have read that had the pacing all over and the ending leaving me unsatisfied? But Noda sensei did it. He made a perfect closed ending but still left so much room for imagination how life is for the main characters after the big adventure.
Dogsred is far from finished but I'm already thinking how a horror/thriller genre would be great written and drawn by Noda sensei. I'm rereading some of my favourite parts from Golden Kamuy right now and they are so gruesome, I get every time the chills. Even in Dogsred are scenes that are pretty scary. Seriously, Noda can write anything and I will greedily it up, but horror is something that I want to see more from him.
Girl meets Rock chapter this week was so good!!!
Down below my favourite part. Spoilers ahead
Yeah, they don't make anime like this anymore. Long shots of characters brooding, pondering, not talking. I kind of miss it. But can't see the modern audience enjoying it.
Also Anne Shirley (2025) is really a whole different show, not a remake of the 1979 version as I originally thought.
Just for comparison, what takes the first mentioned just one episode took Akage no An four. They really speed run the story lol. And the mood is just different, Takahata's (Grave of the Fireflies, Pom Poko) Anne is so serious and melancholic in contrast with the cheerful and optimistic new Anne.
That scene when she realises they are sending her back? The difference in her reaction is so stark, at least for me. I can only explain it like this: my impression of new Anne in that scene was "oh, she is now just acting like this in hope they will change their mind". It was so over-acted xD! It took me a little bit to warm up to her and understand that she is just like this for real.
I can't tell if Anne Shirley is better than Akage no An for me. They are just two separate shows that I enjoy quite a lot.
It took Gilbert almost dying for Anne to admit she loves him aeuzhdkjwehdiauendjd, giiiiirl 😭😭😭😭😭.
I know that Anne will eventually end up with Gilbert, but I'm still here yelling at my screen lol...
Like girl, your real prince is already here, he would fight the whole world for you, he confessed so many times in the most romantic ways, I just!! Aaaarghhhhh, Anne you dummy!
No words, just crying.
I'm stating here the obvious, but I just love the fantasy of Anne Shirley's story. Thanks to a lucky mistake, she got a loving family, great friends, she lives in a magically beautiful place and got the chance for higher education (ofc she worked hard for it!). And I just can't help but want to live that fantasy too, it really brings out my childhood desires. It really makes sense why the books became so popular in a post-war Japan full of orphans. It makes one feel so hopeful and optimistic.
I feel so bad for Gilbert, he is such a boyfriend material and here we have Anne daydreaming about a prince still...
So, I just watched ep 12 of Anne Shirley where Davy and Dora were introduced and I'm not kidding the whooole time I was in parenting mode. I was so tense and my mind was running various scenarios what I would do if I was in that situation with my own child. So stressful, ufff...
Btw, Anne handled it so well, I'm gonna take notes, seriously.
I love her! Is this in the book too?
The love declaration between Anne and Diana... it reminded me how much I love my friends. And that at age 11/12, love for my friends was the strongest thing in my life. I couldn't imagine a life without them and always thought we will be roommates as adults and we will grow old together. How naive of me back then haha.
I think every anime fan that gets upset over how poorly made their favourite series is should watch this. Doesn't ease the frustration but at least brings some understanding how the industry works.
Imagining the one that buried Ogata was Vasily.
I finally watched Look Back and now I don't know what to do with myself.
