BANANAS AND FROZEN PINEAPPLE: blend well A dairy free ice cream alternative! Mine pictured was frozen overnight so more of a sorbet texture but when fresh was very creamy from the banana !
a quick lunchtime fix
I’m off of work today, which means I spent the morning running around doing errands. When I got home and put away the groceries, I was still so COLD from being outside all morning.  It’s 20 degrees here, so I wanted something warm for lunch. Warm.. but easy... I settled on pasta.
I didn’t want to open up a jar of sauce that we won’t use this week, so I whipped up a classic- spaghetti with olive oil, garlic and basil.Â
If you’ve never seen these bad boys before, you NEED to check them out:Â
You can find these in the freezer section of your grocery store, usually near the frozen vegetables. The package contains separate pods of frozen basil, or garlic, or even chopped onions. They make it so easy to cook something fresh without the hassle of mincing garlic (stinky hands, cleaning knife and cutting board..) or having fresh basil on hand (it ALWAYS dries out! uhg!). Â
gear
January is the perfect time to stock up on workout gear for the new year. Many stores have after-holiday sales on leftover summer and winter apparel as the season draws to an end. Add to that the all too common fitness resolution makers and you’ve got a great demand for fitness attire! Take advantage and stock up while you can.
I hit the racks today (and for days online) in search of the perfect pair of colorful leggings, as well as a few other essential pieces for warmer workouts. Without wanting to break the bank, here’s what I gathered up.

Fitness
As a goal for 2017, I want to be more fit. I don’t have goals to lose weight, or be a certain size... I want to set up a routine so that when I’m older I don’t feel.... old. You can be a young 50, or an old 50 depending on how active you stay. I want to be able to travel all over and do amazing things at 50, not feel held back because my body can’t keep up.Â
Each week I plan to run at least once. Whether its a mile, or more, or less. Maybe twice a week! three times! The starting, attainable goal is 1x a week. Get out, and run.Â
Funnily enough this has inspired me to continue my long-retired ab routine, and even some push-ups now and then. when it rains it pours. We have some free weights at the community gym as well, so I am going to follow some fitblrs to see what kinds of routines I can incorporate into my week.Â
