i really need to write like a thing about bruce and kal because i’ve always generally seen bruce as the first other vigilante kal runs into and that too very early on in his career and what that means for kal in terms of his connection with the bat like u know “day and night” meeting, his like low key co-dependance w/ bruce and also always letting bruce get away with literally even the absolute shittiest behaviours but also kal having some of his own toxic traits that he lets out between what ever the dynamic between him and bruce is and isn’t and just like in general how integral this connection is for kal like how deep it is for kal to the point of him not being 100% sure he wouldn’t not dunk an old and dying batman into the lazarus pit.
kon is trying very hard not to fluster because that wouldn’t be very cool of him to do. he shrugs into his leather jacket, blowing air from his lips with a failed attempt at nonchalance because he can’t stop himself from grinning.
“yeah, well… your days are numbered, old man.”
“I’m shivering in my superboots, tough guy.” kanwar light laughter followed as he moved forward, giving into his urge to slightly ruffle kon-el’s hair anyway.

“What, I gotta have a reason to smile at my family now?” he shoots back, still smiling at the other. “Y’did a good job, and I’m proud of you. Just let me have my old man moment, alright.” he’s really straining to contain his urge to ruffle kon-el’s hair right now.
superman: a/mer/i/ca/n al/i/en/ was a poor understanding of kal/superman as a person because the author who shall not be named sees the man of steel as a god amongst men when really he’s just a man with some neat powers amongst men in the like the philosophical sense of being a man since kal is an alien if another species after all. but the one part i do like is kal’s first cape being the cape he ripped/stole off of batman in their first ever encounter. and i like to think he keeps that cape for a long long time even after he and bruce are on civil terms finally.

all night kanwar had to watch the other from a distance as the main presentations of the wang industries charity gala ensued. the man of steal was deeply regretting turning down bruce’s plus one offer in favour of being there as press. he owed cat a favour and she needed him to cover for her and that was that. there was no way he’d be able to pay attention to everything else there if he was at bruce’s side for the entirety of tonight’s event. the world melted away when he allowed himself to indulge in those moments.
but some days kanwar hated being a man of his word because in this moment all he wanted to do was be at bruce’s side and play the part of tonight’s arm candy. he was sure that bruce had gone out of his way to look even more breath taking than usual as some kind of cruel punishment for turning him down. so when the speeches were done and all the toasts were made and the orchestra music swelled and dancing began, the man of steel made his move.
he had to strain not to use his super-speed to cross the ballroom, human speed wasn’t fast enough for him. but there were hundreds of other people here and no matter how badly he needed to get close to bruce at the moment, he wasn’t foolish enough to do that sort of thing. instead he took advantage of his long legs and closed the distance between them.
“Excuse me, Mr. Wang,” he said, politely interrupting the conversation that had been taking place. “If I could borrow you for a dance and perhaps a quote or two for our humble paper?” kanwar wasn’t really asking as he all but lead bruce away and towards the dance floor.
when they started to dance the reporter could barely manage to breath with bruce pressed this close to him. those piercing dark orbs for eyes staring into him made kanwar forget that they were in the middle of a ballroom with all eyes now on them. the look on his face must have been unimaginable lewd to the onlookers as bruce spoke.
“You don’t know the half of it Mr. Wang”, he responded, air finally filling his lungs again. “I’ve been waiting all night for this moment.”
things that kal does sometimes when he’s alone that probably have his friends really worried about him, but he’s the man of steel so he’s fine: randomly allowing himself to free fall from the exosphere all the way down to the stratosphere before catching himself.
⥽ ⋮ as the hidden doorway closed behind him, kanwar casually floated down the spiral steps to the main platform of the batcave. the earthy scent of the subterranean hideaway filled the kryptonians senses as he descended into the earth in search of bruce.
“ how’s my favourite moleman? ” kanwar asked with a grin as floated over to the batman and placed a soft kiss against the other’s cheek.
