I created a pokemon team for Sam! For obvious reason, they’re all Flying types!

Talonflame
Sam's first pokemon was a Fletchling. As a child, he came across an injured Fletchling chick. He brought it home and took care of it until it healed, but instead of flying away the Fletchling kept following him everywhere, even onto the boat although it was clearly afraid of water. The two became best friends and Sam nicknamed it Redwing. The whole Wilson family has a long tradition of partnering Flying type pokemon; Sarah has a Pelipper who helps with the fishing.
When Sam enlisted, Fletchling came along and eventually evolved into Talonflame. They became really close to Riley and his partner pokemon, working together as a seamless unit for years. Losing Riley was a huge blow to Sam and Talonflame, and they ended up quitting the force.

Togekiss
Now back in the States, Sam fell into a depression, feeling lost in life. One day he came across a mysterious egg. Soon after, it hatched into a Togepi and immediately imprinted on him. Taking care of the baby pokemon helped him recover, and it inspired him to join the VA as a counsellor. As their friendship and teamwork grew stronger, it evolved into a Togetic. Both of them were a calming presence during the support groups, encouraging veterans to open up about themselves.
While on his morning jog, the two bumped into Steve with his Arcanine. They hit it off and when Steve saw a Togetic chirping and flitting around them he knew Sam was a good person, which is why he trusted him to help when he and Nat were on the run.
By the time of CACW it had evolved into Togekiss had become great friends with Talonflame. All of them worked great together: Talonflame being Sam’s combat partner on missions, and Togekiss assisting with negotiating and mental wellbeing. When Sam and Talonflame failed to get to Rhodey in time, they flashed back to Riley.
In the Raft, Sam and Togekiss managed to convince Tony that Steve needed backup and sent him off to Siberia.
During Endgame, Sam and his two trusted pokemon fought against the forces of Thanos.
(Of all Sam’s pokemon, Bucky likes hanging out with Togekiss the most for its sweet personality and soothing aura)

Shiny Braviary
Like the shield, Braviary was raised and trained by the SSR. He partners with whoever is Captain America, so he doesn’t belong to anyone.
He fought alongside Steve in WW2, went into hibernation for 70 years, and rejoined Steve when the Avengers came together. In the present day, he got to know Sam and liked him.
Braviary expected to partner with Sam after Steve passed him the shield, but obviously things didnt pan out that way. He was a bit grumpy finding out he’d be retired while the shield went into the museum, but figured he could use a rest.
And then Braviary got saddled with Walker. Braviary couldn’t stand the man and purposely gave Walker a hard time, barely toeing the line of disobedience. He was still a little mad and hurt that Sam gave him away. After seeing Walker publically execute the pleading Flag Smasher, Braviary abandoned him and went with Sam to Louisiana where, where Braviary had his first taste of normal civilian family life. As he chipped in with the other pokemon and Bucky in fixing the boat, he started to understand Sam’s reasons for doing what he did.

Corviknight & Skarmory

Bucky showed up to Delacroix with gifts from Wakanda: a suitcase with the new Cap suit and two pokeballs containing Corviknight and Skarmory. Both were trained by the Dora to be highly disciplined and loyal to the next Cap, and even received with vibranium armor enhancements for extra defense.

Sam and his team went to New York to stop the attack on the GRC. Talonflame, and Braviary handled the rescue attempts; Corviknight and Skarmony took on the combat.
Togekiss and Sam confronted Karli to try and talk her down from her mission, but just as they were about to get through to her she esd killed by the Power Broker. As Sam spoke to the GRC, Togekiss’s Serene Grace calmed the crowd, allowing them to be more receptive to his message.

Swablu
The newest and youngest member of Sam's team. Sam came across Swablu while he was training with the shield. It stayed in Delacroix and hung out with Sam’s nephews while the others went to New York. Once everyone came home, it happily joined the family cookout and ate lots of potato~

They’re going to talk.’ And I was talking!” he says. “By the end, I was very lively, and it really is thanks to him.”
