Lately you may've noticed that there's a bit of lack of new posts here. That doesn't mean that we aren't up to something, so we decided to give a quick update on what's going on:
Xiu Xiu
Jamie sat with us and answered some of our (and three of yours!) questions. At first it seemed that he wasn't very enthusiastic on giving an interview but it turned out that he was nothing else than tired. Since it is a video, we are still working on it (actually, we are waiting to have time to work on it) but it'll be up in 2 weeks time.
Meanwhile expect us to have a quick review of the concert, with photos.
Mimicry
We'll have a talk with the Estonian electro-pop act Mimicry. For those of us who are unfamiliar with them (that means that you are most likely not from the Baltic region), this guys almost won the Estonian national music competition - twice. If Estonians like Mimicry's music so much, I must say that they have a great taste for music.

It seems that KseToFon are no more, before they even had the chance to make an official release. Well, we shouldn't panic as the Bulgarian act, that defines itself as gloomy post-blues with humoristic elements, continues with a little different line-up under the name Псевдо Кседо (or Pseudo Ksedo). Here we get to hear one of their songs - Дете на спукан презерватив (A child of ruptured condom), which Ksenia (the band's vocalist) released in her blog (mind that it's in Bulgarian).

Siekiera were a Polish band from the 80s that does have a lot in common with Joy Division and Killing Joke. Recently, Tomasz Adamski - the original guitarist of the band, released a new album (Ballady Na Koniec Świata) under the band's name, but if you are looking for the post-punk legends of Poland, Nowa Aleksandria is the record that made them a cult-band.
The Igraj Slobodno! EP is a present from the Macedonian post-punks Bernays Propaganda for their fifth anniversary. It is made of remixes, covers, and expired chocolate pudding. Here is Sethstat's punk-jazz rendition of Buldozer.

Shit Shave Shovers - Woods (Cruel hides in the bushes)
Polish garage punk, that might remind you of the Fugazi-era. Slow, dirty and crunchy. Shit Shave Shovers aren't the band that gave much info about themselves, but I'm eager to receive their oldschool CD.
Горы Лана (Gorq Lana) represent the Russian-language hip-hop in Estonia. Photoindustries is an obscure DJ instrumentalist with sweet jazz flows. Spekter is their mutual child, and it is some of the best Russian hip-hop we've heard.
The site has a new theme - Single A Theme by Business Bullpen (with a minor change in the typefaces - they are all from GoogleWebFonts due to Cyrillic names). Also, the exFM player has been implemented and the good news are that you can now scrobble the songs in Last.fm.
Very soon the site will have its own domain name. If you want to help us - you can always promote us to your friends!
Not much info about the band, apart the obvious connection with other Bulgarian bands, such as Ksetofon and As. Nice, simple acoustic music, with something more than just some indie-tunes.

Also, I will try to interview a few artists in the months to follow. Wish me luck for the first one - it is very, very special one, it comes all the way from the USA, and I'm really hoping for them to say "yes".
Also, I'm hoping of seeing them live. That means that AirFrance must collaborate, because I should fly exactly on the 16th in order to see them.

Polish deathrock female-fronted outfit's release Stirring. A little bit of cold-wave, a little bit of post-punk drums, and a little bit of sexiness as well. Worth buying.
The coldwave act Voyvoda releases its second LP titled Iztok (East). This time rawer, more doomy and less minor. Still, the melancholy-soaked atmosphere from their début album is present. The occasional folk motives only add to it, making Iztok one really, really beautiful record.

The rave-rap-party mafia Die Antwoord are back with their second album. Tongue-in-cheek lyrics, dark beats, afrikaans accent - all we love about them. This time the cheesy motives step back for some more mature (but more disturbing as well) melodies. Antipopular pop music, music to smash hipster faces to.
ill!noiz are russian psychedelic rock band that take their inspiration from various aspects of Rachmaninoff and the Velvet Underground. They are a psychedelic quintet who write songs full of lyricism - to the point of complete absurdity.

French-Belgian wave duo Dolina successfully fuse European synths with nihilistic coldwave and the French chanson. Their debut (and only) album, released in 2010 on LP on the Treue um Treue label, is surely hard to find, but you can try one of the links below.
