she doesn’t exactly follow… this man is so much bolder than she is. here she is, more than a dozen worries compounding in her head, yet he remains all too collected in spite of their same circumstance. she’s not sure if she ought to trade her envy for bewilderment or not.
“ o-oh, um, ” is all she can really manage in response at first. he’s deduced so much in such a short time frame she’s nearly forgotten how to speak herself. the only thing she’s grasped onto is the local mentioned. “ h-hinomoto? ” it was a close match to her home, but not quite a perfect one. then again, it was just an observation, and he was correct still– she’s not from there.
“ hoshido! ” she blurts out suddenly, “ i– i’m, um, from hoshido… ” her voice tapers off. what else is she supposed to say? if he can read her like an open book then surely her words are useless. her eyes dart about, hopeful she hadn’t been loud even to draw anyone else’s attention.
Edward’s expression remains one of subtle thought as he taps the arm of his glasses with one finger. It is not a name of any country in Grastaea, or on any other continent he knows of, confirming the suspicions he has already voiced.
“Hoshido...” He repeats the name to himself, digging through his memory as he does. It is a moment more before something like recognition lights up his eyes.
“...Yes, I do believe this will prove very helpful. Thank you very much.”
“Back in my world, you see, a young man by the name of Alfonse once stayed at the Halidom for which I work. He came from another world, and while I had not the chance to speak with him much due to the circumstances of his visit, I do think I heard him mention such a place by name.”
“Now, do keep in mind, there is always the chance of a coincidence, but I might speculate that it is anything but. Now, whether this connection has anything to do with our arrival in this world, that I cannot yet say, but I would rather not look over any detail, no matter how small.”
