Elsa glanced up at him, surprised. “You’d… offer a job to someone you just me?” she asked in confusion. “N-not that I don’t want the job or anything. I’ll think about it.”
Jonathan shrugged. " I'm a kind man -- always want to help ones in need. " Lie. " I would suggest you take it -- It's actually a very respectable place to work. Especially in this town. Crazies everywhere. " He said as they neared his building -- in which he held the door open for Elsa. " After you. "
-
"Well. I guess it’s kinda supposed to be scary, ain’t it? Howzit work, anyway? I spent alotta years at Arkham so I know all about fear an’ stuff, but I ain’t no chemist, so I d—… actually, ya know what?", as a little shudder passes over her, chin resting on the back of her chair.
"S’probably better I don’t know. It supposed to make ya see all ya worst fears, right?" A pale finger taps inquisitively at her chin, her lips scrunching up and out in pursed, contemplative amusement. "Ya know, I ain’t sure what I’m scared’a most! Maybe I should try it out sometime!"
She gets more than a little sheepish when Jonathan agrees to ‘take her word for it’ with regard to the explosions that led to her being banned from the Gotham Central Cineplex. Her voice immediately loses a decibel or two as her head hangs down, pigtails flopping about.
"… well, yeah, kinda-sorta? I mean, it was mostly Mistah J’s idea. They were showin’ this new Tom Cruise movie— Valkyrie, I think?— an’ he got it in his head that it was a really bad movie, y’know? So he wanted tah’ punish anyone who went to see it, an’… yowza wowza, I’m really ramblin’, ain’t I…”
Jonathan let out a short chuckle. "Harley -- as much as I like you -- my work is secret. I can only share so much. " He said but nodded. "But yes -- it's suppose to be scary and most definitely makes you see your worst fears. Either that or my experiments have been screaming and crying because it got in their eyes and stung. " he joked with a smirk.
Jonathan shook his head as Harley said she should use it sometime. Maybe it was because he didnt want to hear her scream -- or maybe it was because he was afraid it'd make her crazier than she was already. "I think I'll have to shoot your experiment request form down. I like to keep for the people who deserve it -- besides I wouldn't be able to help you if you begged for help. I haven't made a 'cure' for it quite yet. Not one that is to it's full power atleast. Maybe then we'll talk." He decided.
As he listened . Jonathan nodded every now and then to show he was listening. " Ah -- I see. I suppose Im not too surprised -- Joker seems to do some pretty crazy things. -- However I know someone who works at the theater if you'd like me to get you any of the newer movies. " He offered.
Jonathan couldn’t help but smirk. He didnt kill anyone to get his position — no — but it wasnt like he hasn’t killed anyone before. Some an accident others not. He just wanted good screams. ” I practically live for my job. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else honestly. Then again I don’t have any family left and not very many friends so I have nothing to do outside my job for the most part.” Jonathan explained. “I like that though — names with meanings are always the best.” He smiled but raised an eyebrow. ” Ive met murderers , rapists and theives. I’ve certainly heard crazier. Honestly I would have guessed a casual office for someone like you — handsome and such — but I guess this just adds onto things that interest me about you. ” He said taking a sip of his drink.
Lyric took a sip of his drink and found himself mirroring the good doctor’s smirk, “We have that in common then.” he commented, “Though my job started out as a hobby. You know what they say though; if you’re good at something, don’t do it for free.” A soft pink tinted his cheeks just slightly as he laughed, “Well, Jonathan, looks can be deceiving. -I don’t think the office life would suit me very well at all.” He flashed the ink on his knuckles first before rolling up his left sleeve to show him the rest of the array of nautical markings. “I was in the Navy for two and a half years before deciding even that lifestyle was too cramped for me. -I’m an field work kinda guy.. and I really love being my own boss.” he shook his head. Lyric wet his lips, his mouth turning up into another smile. “But thank you. Interesting and handsome; if I didn’t know better I’d think you’re being flattering because you want something.” His eyes swept over him casually and the smile spread into a grin, “You’re pretty easy on the optics yourself and that’s a dangerous thing to be in the psychology field. I imagine it harbors unwanted attention from your patients.” he said in a half tease, but the compliment behind it was truthful.
"Ah -- one of my good friends told me that. He's alittle... Nuts but I can see where he's coming from most of the time." Jonathan said. Maybe Joker wasn't the best guy to listen to -- The sanest guy atleast -- but he made good points every now and then. It always added to the curiosity he had toward what was going on in that brain of his. As Lyric showed him this -- Jonathan found himself surprisingly more curious about him. Jonathan may be a simple yet evil man but he wasnt blind and knew when someone was attractive. " Huh -- never would have guessed." He said but smirked. " If I wanted something -- Id tell you Lyric. Besides -- Flattering people isn't a strong point for me. I'm alittle ... Lousy when it comes to flirting , relationships and such. " He admitted. In all reality -- he ha never been in a relationship. He found them pointless for the most part -- the other part was he just never found time. He couldn't help but chuckle. " My patients have made a few comments in the past -- Yes... " Jonathan trailed off as he looked up at the other though. " I have to admit I enjoy yours much more however. "
Cryophobia
Jonathan couldn’t help but smirk. Maybe he would make her a victim — Maybe not. He wasnt quite sure yet but he would make up his mind at some point.
“No — My home is in that big building over there. No less than five minutes away. Follow me.” Jonathan said as he put a hand in his pant pocket and began to walk. ” May I ask how you got to Gotham? I mean it’s not that safest city to land in. ”
"I was moving away from my hometown, but my car got stolen." It wasn’t a complete lie. She’d gotten her car stolen from her three months before, but she didn’t mention that part. "I realized I wasn’t far from a city, so I decided to just walk and hitchhike until I got someplace where I could settle down and look for a job."
"Ah -- I see." Jonathan said with a small nod. "Although I wouldn't say Gothams the best place to settle down -- I could offer you a job -- if you'd like that is. It's down at the Asylum -- and you'd be my assistant -- but it's a safe job and pays fairly well." He offered as he glanced at her.

"Attaboy!," she beams in immediate response, her head nodding enough to wildly toss about her hack-job dyed pigtails. Though she’s made an honest effort to make one black and one red, splotchy blonde patches are still scattered through both of them, almost like she dyed her hair while drunk or in the dark. Or both.
Naturally, Jonathan’s smirk only makes her smirk wider, as she smacks her palm against a nearby chair and slides it over to herself, sitting down upon it the wrong way. After squishing her chest up against the chair’s back, and resting her chin (with her head slightly tilted, of course) atop it, she bats her lashes playfully at Jon.
"Ya don’t work with people who are excited tah’ see this stuff? … jeez Louise, ya must work with a bunch’a stiffs. I’ve always liked watchin’ ya work, Doctah Crane. Heck, it’s tha’ closest thing I get to goin’ to the movies evah since the Gotham Cineplex said I ain’t allowed in there no more, aftah all those, em, explosions… Only some'a which was my fault, by the way!”
Jonathan couldn't help but chuckle at her words. He wished he could actually get his men interested in his work -- but they were in it for the money. Besides its hard for them to like something Jonathan threats them with. He may have gassed a few of his men to put the others in shape to work better -- but it wasnt like there was alot. Anyway it worked and that satisfied him enough.
" I think they're more terrified of the Toxins than they'll ever be interested in it -- but I can't complain too much. They do their jobs. Well -- after I gassed a few they did. Correctly atleast. It's amazing how someone acts when they fear being put in a certain ... Situation. " Jonathan moved to lean against the wall , arms crossing over his chest after he set his briefcase down.
" Im glad someone gets as much pleasure as I do with my experiments atleast. You can stop and watch whenever you please Harley. " Jonathan said but smirked. "So that's what happened there? " He laughed lightly and adjusted his wired glasses. " I'll take your word for it. "

Elsa bit her lip, considering this.
"If you’re really sure I won’t be any trouble," she finally said. A doctor - a psychiatrist… he was trusted and respected in Gotham. Of course, she knew well enough that trust and respect didn’t necessarily mean anything, but she still felt a little safer hearing this.
"Is your house far from here?" she asked.
Jonathan couldn't help but smirk. Maybe he would make her a victim -- Maybe not. He wasnt quite sure yet but he would make up his mind at some point.
"No -- My home is in that big building over there. No less than five minutes away. Follow me." Jonathan said as he put a hand in his pant pocket and began to walk. " May I ask how you got to Gotham? I mean it's not that safest city to land in. "
” Pretty? I’ve never had my head quite described that way.” Jonathan gave a simple chuckle but licked his lips and smirked. He always could go for a little experiment. ” Well I have one that my men could easily bring in. Messed up my shipment last month anyway. Ill send them a message and have them bring him here.” Jonathan said as he took out his phone and typed a quick message.
"Well, ya should hang out with me more often then!," she says around an impossibly wide and oddly goofy smirk. "I’ve give ya tons'a firsts that ya ain't nevah heard before.”
When Jonathan mentions bringing some around for a fear toxin test, Harley can’t help but giddily clap her hands together like a five year old watching a magic show. She even squeaks a bit, in the manner of an overly caffeinated hamster.
"Oh, this is so excitin’! I get tah’ see the new stuff in action? Doctah Crane, ya too nice to me!"
" I suppose I should. " Jonathan said as he nodded. He didnt know if that would actually happen though. Not because of Harley personally -- but people in general. He could only stand so much socialization. Most people wouldn't enjoy to be around Harley for too long -- but honestly Jonathan didnt mind too much. Of course he built a higher tolerance to crazy while working at the Asylum but -- She had been an intern at Arkham Asylum before hand so he knew her pretty well. Her voice could get to him sometimes -- but he merely pushed it away or blocked it out for mere seconds.
Seeing how excited she got -- Jonathan couldn't help but smirk. Seeing someone who enjoyed his experiments as much as he did was rare -- so he enjoyed it when it did happen. Though -- she probably could have skipped the squeal that escaped her mouth.
" I don't think I've seen anyone this excited to see my toxin in action -- though most of them end up being the victim in the situation so I suppose it's only common sense they wouldn't be too happy about it. The test subject should be here in alittle less than half an hour -- and if he's not we may have more test subjects than originally planned. "
Cryophobia
Jonathan couldn’t help but raise both eyebrows at this. There was such thing as not being bothered but wearing what she was in this weather? She had to be crazy or poor enough not to be able to afford a coat — which he couldn’t guess she was because she wasnt giving off a look or vibe she was. “I see.” He nodded.
Jonathan usually didnt offer his home to anyone — mostly for the fact he didnt want anyone to accidently find his toxins — but he felt like there was more to this woman. Maybe she’d even make a great test subject. Pressing his lips together he looked at her. ” I could offer the spare room at my condo to you.” He offered. “Gotham doesn’t have the cheapest nor the nicest Motels unfortunately.” He explained. “I should probably introduce myself — Doctor Jonathan Crane. Pleasure to meet you.” He said.
Elsa paused when he offered her room at his home, thinking it over. Every rule in the book told young women not to stay with men they’d just met, as did her instincts and her common sense. As a general rule, her instincts tended to be correct. This man could be anyone, and she knew it. He could want to kill her or rape her or rob her or God knows what else. But on the other hand… what choice did she have?
She could always freeze him if he tried anything.
"I’m Elsa," she said simply. "I-if you’re sure I won’t get in the way… I’d hate to impose."
Jonathan gave her a smile as she said this. He knew she was nervous to stay at his place but then again most might have. He didnt have plans for her anyway...
Not yet atleast.
"No no -- you wouldn't get in the way. Though if I leave in the middle of the night or early morning -- I just had to go to my workplace and deal with an emergency. You see -- I'm head psychiatrist at the Arkham Asylum so If a inmate manages to cause harm to themselves -- I'm the one they call. Just a fair warning on that." He explained -- thinking maybe if he explained this it might help her feel more at ease with him knowing he was a man of respect around here.
Cryophobia
It was snowing in Gotham City once again and quite frankly — Jonathan wished it would stop. Of course the snow gave his victims horrible sights — which earned him more screams — but it also meant his workers complained more. The crazies at Arkham even complained more — which was alot considering they complained so much already.
All and All Jonathan didnt mind the snow himself for personal reasons only for business or Work reasons. He wasnt a huge fan of being social unless he was making the other scream and cry in fear — so he walked down the street like usual. Standing straight and walking professionally. But he simply ignored anyone who didnt seem worth his time.
And when the woman stopped him in his tracks he couldn’t help but eye her attire. It was freezing and here she was dressed like it was Spring or Early Fall. Certainly something that he could stop for — just to ease his curiousity that is.
“Gotham City. Central to be specific. I’d ask if your lost but you seem to be… Aren’t you cold?” The doctor asked with an raised eyebrow.
"Thank you," she said. Gotham City. She’d never heard of the place, but she managed to be dead in the center of it. Great. Just great.
"Cold doesn’t bother me much," she replied. Or at all, she thought silently to herself. She hoped she didn’t end up staying in Gotham long enough for anyone to discover her curse. God, that would’ve been just what she needed. To be run out of another big city because of her powers. She licked her lips nervously at the thought, hoping the stranger didn’t realize how panicky she was.
"D-do you… do you know any good places to stay around here?" she asked, forcing her eyes to meet his.

The cold winter wind blew a few blonde hairs loose from Elsa’s braid as she walked through the icy streets of a city she’d never been to before. Although the people around her were shivering in heavy winter coats, scarves, and gloves, Elsa was perfectly warm in her jeans and t-shirt, along with a pair of light blue gloves, which earned her quite a few weird looks from passerby.
At least it was winter. She’d run away from her hometown, Arendelle, nearly five months before, and it had finally settled into December. At least now, people wouldn’t realize the cold was at least partially her fault - so long as she didn’t touch anything without her gloves on.
Finally, she got up the courage to stop a passerby.
"Where am I?"

"Gotham City. Central to be specific. I'd ask if your lost but you seem to be... Aren't you cold?" The doctor asked with an raised eyebrow.
Jonathan smirked alittle — actually glad to talk to someone for once. After all he was human and did need to be social sometimes. ” No you can ask any questions you please as long as it’s not about a certain patient. I can’t give out information like that for obvious reasons. I deal with a little bit of everything honestly. Being Head — brings alot of work for me. Unfortunately. ” He said and nodded. ” Well of course — I’ve been working there a long time now. ” He said and took the others hand giving it a good firm shake. ” Lyric — II like it. I’ve never met anyone named Lyric before. ” Jonathan sad but licked his lips. ” I’m alittle curious about your occupation now to be completely honest.” He chuckled.
”You’re head of the department? That’s a position most people would kill for.” he mused with a smirk. “You must enjoy it somewhat though? I couldn’t imagine pushing myself to that high of a position without some passion for the subject.” Lyric tapped his fingers on his glass and chuckled, “My father was a music enthusiast and a bit of a sap. If you ask him he’ll say that I’m the lyrics to his and my mother’s love song. Hence my name.” He opened his mouth as if he were to actually give something away, but he quickly stopped himself and shook his head. “You’d try to lock me up if I told you what I did. -Or at least give me a psych eval.” he grinned, “Then again, you’ve probably heard crazier. -I think the vaguest way I can explain it is.. high priority bounty hunting.”
Jonathan couldn't help but smirk. He didnt kill anyone to get his position -- no -- but it wasnt like he hasn't killed anyone before. Some an accident others not. He just wanted good screams. ” I apologize for asking then. Hopefully whatever you two are going through is resolved soon enough. ” Jonathan said but smirked and nodded. ” Yes — I’ve made the Toxin stronger and I’ve made it a mist as well so I don’ have to inject it. Strong enough to double the screams but not kill them. ” The doctor explained.
"Hey, it’s no big ish, Doctah Crane," she says muffledly around an obnoxiously oversized bubble of bubblegum, before letting it pop against her lips and eagerly vacuuming it past them with an eager suck and chew. "Don’t ya worry ya pretty little head ovah it. I gotta say though, I’m kinda dyin’ to see this new stuff’a yers in action! Ya got a test subject handy?”
" Pretty? I've never had my head quite described that way." Jonathan gave a simple chuckle but licked his lips and smirked. He always could go for a little experiment. " Well I have one that my men could easily bring in. Messed up my shipment last month anyway. Ill send them a message and have them bring him here." Send my muse one of the following! (slightly smutty)
"Ohhh, but you’re so cute when you’re flustered!"
"Somebody’s especially sensitive…"
"Looks like I’ll never lose another ticklefight again!"
"Looks like you’re a bit… tied up."
"Is it really that stuck, or are you just making an excuse to wave your ass in the air?"
"Act like that, and I’ll have to spank you."
"You do look sweet in that dress."
"I’m not a skateboard, but I’d grind you all night long."
"Not yet, not until you beg really good for it."
”Harley.” Jonathan greeted her but offered a small smile to her — not nearly as wide but he figured it’d do. ” Yes actually — and glad to say I’ve upgraded my toxin since we last saw each other. You and Joker still going strong? ” The doctor asked as he rose an eyebrow.
"Ehhh," Harley mutters, wobbling her hand about from side to side, flat palmed, in that classic iffy ‘so-so’ kind of gesture. She keeps a smile on her face despite the middling hand motion. "I wouldn’t ask about me and Mistah Jay if ya value ya time and sanity, Doctah Crane. S’a long complicated story full’a broken hearts and equally broken ribcages. So! Upgraded, ya say?”
" I apologize for asking then. Hopefully whatever you two are going through is resolved soon enough. " Jonathan said but smirked and nodded. " Yes -- I've made the Toxin stronger and I've made it a mist as well so I don' have to inject it. Strong enough to double the screams but not kill them. " The doctor explained.
”That wasn’t my point, but I see yours.” he replied and slowly swirled the liquid in his glass. “Arkham. I’ve heard the name before.” he mused.”-Who do you usually work with? Obviously the criminally insane, but what level cases do you do? -Am I allowed to ask that or are you not at liberty to dismiss that sort of information?” he asked curiously. “Either way, a man as eloquently worded as yourself would be a waste for lower level cases, so I’m sure what I’ve assumed is most likely correct. You obviously have a strong understanding of your job, Jonathan.” Giving a small smirk, he offered his hand. “Lyric Morgan. -I’d offer some insight on my occupation, but that’s a little harder to explain than yours.”
Jonathan smirked alittle -- actually glad to talk to someone for once. After all he was human and did need to be social sometimes. " No you can ask any questions you please as long as it's not about a certain patient. I can't give out information like that for obvious reasons. I deal with a little bit of everything honestly.
