Protest Factory
Jeffrey Deitch, 18 Wooster, NYC, 1-8pm, October 31 - November 6, 2019
Downtown for Democracy has taken over Deitch Projects. The concept is a hybrid space called the “Protest Factory,” which although located in New York City has the potential for national impact. Areas throughout the space will be activated to consistently draw crowds with an artist-run studio, readings, talks, artist-led sign making workshops, and exclusive merchandise.
Marilyn Minter has been the subject of numerous solo museum exhibitions including Pretty/Dirty at Brooklyn Museum in 2017; Deichtorhallen, Hamburg, Germany in 2011; Green Pink Cavier at MoMA in 2010; SFMOMA in 2005. Her video Green Pink Caviar was exhibited in the lobby of the MoMA for over a year, and was also shown on digital billboards on Sunset Boulevard, LA, and the Creative Time MTV billboard in Times Square, New York. She recently photographed Lady Gaga for the New York Times Magazine cover. She was honored by Planned Parenthood in 2017 at the annual “Woman of Valor” luncheon for her advocacy for women’s justice and reproductive rights.
Alexandra Pelosi is a journalist and documentary filmmaker, and the daughter of the House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi. Her latest film, ‘Outside the Bubble: On the Road with Alexandra Pelosi,’ debuts on HBO October 29.
Alison Gingeras is an American curator who has held positions at numerous institutions including the Guggenheim, Palazzo Grassi and the Pompidou. She was the co-organizer the HALT Action Group and the Dear Ivanka campaigns along with Marilyn Minter and Jonathan Horowitz.
