CTA Rail Car Converted into Mobile Garden

I first covered the Mobile Garden project here on Colossal back in October of last year. UIC Art and Design graduate Joe Baldwin continues to pursue funding for his open-air public transit garden, but meanwhile was given the opportunity to participate in this year’s Art on Track festival last weekend by turning the interior of an el car into a fantastic sod-covered, ivy-laden garden. This car circled Chicago’s elevated downtown loop for five hours with several additional cars decorated with numerous other art installations.

That's right! She's rather a handful... Very energetic. But I haven't had the opportunity to care for a new Pokemon in quite a while, so this is quite an interesting experience!

Ah, hello! I'm Erika, the leader of the Celadon City Pokemon Gym~! And Lyra is a lovely name, might I add.

[egg hatching! this is a little late, right guys]

Erika was sitting at the writing desk in her hotel room, fiddling with the "new fangled device" (coffee machine) that was plugged into a wall outlet. She knew how to operate a rice cooker, but, well, this was beyond her. Next to the coffee maker, sat the Pokemon egg she'd mysteriously received the weekend before. 

Continuing to jam the buttons of the contraption, she didn't notice when the egg began shaking more than the usual twitch-twitch from before. She did take notice, however, when a blue-and-yellow squirrel broke free of its shell in a rain of tiny sparks.

To simply say that she took notice was an understatement. She pretty much fell out of her chair, the Pachirisu having had attached itself around her neck. She let out something between a shriek of shock and a squeak of delight, because holy wow, this is a cute little baby. Erika set her new companion down on the desk, having risen up from the ground herself. The little squirrel immediately started running in circles on the hard wood, eventually setting another rain of sparks onto the coffee maker... and completely frying it, plastic casing and all. 

The gym leader released a sigh- and to think all she wanted to do was boil some water.

I guess… But, it’s kind of weird that someone got into your room, right? The hotel security sounds pretty crappy.

Perhaps. Well, it's not good to go rustling the staff's feathers while I'm still here, I would hate to make a fuss about it... I think I shall write them a letter before I check out~!

Oh? Everyone is receiving these…? Perhaps it’s  promotion of some sort, though I suppose it wouldn’t make sense for them to be in people’s homes if that were the case…

[Erika takes her suit case in one hand, protrudes her free arm out slightly, intending to link arms with Maggie. This, of course, seemed like a completely normal thing to her.]

[She lead the gym leader away from the airport, trying her best to think of things to say about the city.]
