(So.. I haven't been the greatest as of late and that's why I just.. up and left this blog? I mean, I wasn't really RPing much anyway (to those I was doing so with, I'm so sorry for disappearing). I've been RPing on Skype lately so like.. if you want my Skype and/or willing to RP there, just send me a message? I'm sorry guys. I love you all, really.)
Why? - Closed
Hearing her name once more, Peridot felt her body tense, gaze almost instantly shifting down to avoid any eye contact. She was terrified of what the gem was going to say, although her voice was gentle. Closing her eyes tightly, she awaited her fate, only to be taken aback by Pearl’s reasonable response. “Wha-” Peridot quickly shot a glance up to the slender gem, body twitching and head shifting back at the sudden hand offered in her direction. Was Pearl actually offering to help the green technician? … Yes, yes she was.
A second chance. That was a new one.
“I-” she froze up. Uninjured leg shifting uncomfortably on the ground. There was a grimace, followed by a dejected frown, which led into more sniffling as her face scrunched up behind the visor. “-I can’t believe… after all that… that business, you are still o-offering to help me-” she choked on a slight sob, a trembling arm finally lifting from the ground, the finger nodes curling around Pearl’s extended hand. Squeezing it gently, she used the support to lift herself back up onto one leg.
Her opposite hand quickly darted up, the nodes working under her visor once again to swiftly rid of the embarrassing tears that stained her cheeks once more. “Guh-” she groaned, sniffing and shaking her head. Looking up at the other gem, her hand twitched and slipped free from Pearl’s to come back in and rub against the other. “I can’t say… I know your true intentions, but I guess I can’t.. turn away an offer like that.” The scowl returned, a resting face for the young Peridot.
Of course, when her head turned to the side slightly, her lip threatened to curve at one end, a slip of a smile starting to form. Relief was filling her body, and the chance to live out her life longer, and possibly freely was finally starting to hit her. -and it was starting to feel good-
-at least until she remembered the pain in her leg, forcing her teeth to grit in pain as she hunched down slightly, nearly stumbling over next to the poor Pearl.
The technician’s digits felt sleek and cool against the pearl’s warm palm, and pale fingers curled firmly around lime green ones as Pearl helped pull Peridot to her feet. Hands lingered, linked together for perhaps just a little longer than necessary before the other pulled her digits away.
“The– The only reason we were hostile is because we believed you to be a threat to Earth,” Pearl explained. “But, you are not a threat as of right now.”
Obviously, one could reason she said that because Peridot was injured–of course she was no threat to anyone like that. But it was also because Pearl realized, Peridot was only following orders. Oh, how Pearl knew how it was, to be compelled to comply with a superior’s will lest you be declared defective and subsequently shattered. Such was the life a servant-level Gem lived. Pearl empathized with that on such a deep level, she almost forgot for a moment why she and the other Gems had been against her in the first place.
A second chance. Pearl, a defective service Gem herself, had received one from the ever-so-gracious late Rose Quartz. The least Peridot deserved was one as well.
That line of thought was cut short when the other stumbled. Almost on instinct, Pearl moved, reached out, hands grasping the green Gem’s slim waist to help her keep steady.
Not a threat as of right now. Why not? Was it because of her leg? Peridot, that wasn’t a way to think... A second chance means the gem would have to change her ways somewhat to remain on the positive side of the Crystal Gems. As nauseating as that sounded, she had no choice. Her thought process was cut short, however, when she realized where Pearl’s hands had landed to keep the gem stable. Eyes scanned down through the visor, the lime skin on her face quickly darkening to a forest.
Peridot huffed, about to swat away Pearl’s hands, when she realized it was the only thing keeping her stable at the moment. She grumbled under her breath, and with Pearl’s help, she was back up on at least one of her legs. As much as she didn’t want to, she lifted her arm and swung it over Pearl’s shoulders to keep herself stable. “Look, just... just can you-” she sighed, bringing her hand up and palming her face. “I can’t believe I’m about to ask this.. but can you take me to your base and just.. let me fix my leg..”
She could just copter away. She could transform her hand into the blades and fly off, and even shoot at Pearl with her gun, but something was stopping her. What was stopping her? Did she want to be captured? Was it.. even being captured? Pearl was acting too nice for it to be a capture.. “Just let me fix my leg and.. and-” and what exactly? Would she leave? Would she be allowed to leave? She fell silent after the final snarky comment, grimacing as she held onto Pearl.
So I kinda just.. up and left for a bit and I'm sorry. .. but like.. I dunno, I feel like I'm not that great of an RP partner because it seems like once I get into an RP, the other person either drops it, or stops talking to me entirely. And I feel like I'm doing something wrong, and I shouldn't be wasting anyone's time with this junk. I'm sorry if I'm inadequate to your roleplaying standards.
