Here’s a good Dan song to listen to today: Intro (Player Select) by Starbomb Here’s a good Grumps episode to watch today: Super Metroid: Shoulda Saved - PART 5 Here’s a cool Dan fact for you today: [putting a trigger warning here for a homophobic usage of a word and an ableist slur, but the context in which Dan is using them is a learning context] In a 2013 episode of Game Grumps, Dan said he was actively trying to scrub out the terms “gay” and “retarded” from his vocabulary (in their negative slur usage for, as he calls it, “shitty” and “stupid”). He said it was difficult because he’s grown up with those usages since he was a little kid, but that he was trying very hard because he knows that they’re hurtful. He then ends this with a, although well intentioned, misguided attempt to try and redefine them as positive terms. It lasts for about a few minutes before he realizes just how bad of an idea it is. [It is worth noting in recent years, he has not dropped either of these words in negative connotation, proving that if you put your mind to meaningful positive change, you can do it. And that, yes, no one is perfect, but people can change if they’re willing. An extremely important lesson for many.] Here’s a good picture of Dan to look at today:
