Ichigo and rukia are each other's protectors in more ways than one and its especially apparent in rukia,, in the way she protects ichigo's HEART. In the fb arc, ichigo was not so much in mortal danger when ginjo stabbed him,, it was his mental health in peril so rukia 'saved him' from despair. Just how much do they care aboit each other??? Their whole thing is going out of their way to ensure the other's HAPPINESS??? And ichigos ' i remember why i wanted to save you so much'???? They would be so happy if they got married??? They would live their whole life trying to make each other happier (and get into a competition about it lmao)like who wouldnt be happy if they ended up with someone whose top priority is your happiness. Are they even real?? Theyre too good to be real smh thats why they didnt end up together

The best thing is that Rukia instinctively KNOWS what Ichigo needs and knows exactly how to get him out of his funk, like at the beginning of the HM arc. She knows a kick in the face will set him to rights and does it. Antis will whine about this being abuse but 1) they’re morons because 2) it’s done for comedic effect and 3) it’s exactly what Ichigo needs - someone who isn’t afraid to call him out on his fears while reaffirming that he’s the man in her heart he’s strong enough to overcome his despair. Total waifu material. Disagree with your last sentence though. It’s just total bullshit that they’re not together.

Keep my heart so we may live forever…

Bleach may be a clownfiesta but something that stuck with me was Kaien’s teaching about how it is important to live with kindness and joy towards others. Even though our bodies inevitably die and decompose, if many people remember you fondly then your spirit stays alive through them. I think this is a very comforting and humbling way to think about our mortality. Instead of wishing to live many years (which is out of my control), I’d like to try and live with a big heart instead (which I can do!). A few years with great happiness and many fun memories to be remembered by is better than a hundred years spent lonely and forgotten. Thanks Tite Kubo, for the wisdom.
