What happens when you start saying 'yes' after spending your adult life living by someone else's rules? You wind up pulling a lanky, intense, maybe-songwriter(?) at an industry party and spend the next ten days hooking up while your respective chaotic friend groups try to help you decide if it's more than a fling or just recipe for broken hearts and an album worth of sad songs.
So the main arc is done! But I had so much fun writing it I'll likely return to one shots and shorts. READ ON AO3.

Star Wars x MCU Crossover [Loki/Original Space Witch Character] AO3
As a kid, I was really upset that Bill Watterson wouldn't license Calvin & Hobbes so I could have plushies or so there would be a Saturday morning cartoon. Now, I realize his resistance is the reason we don't have a Calvin & Hobbes DreamWorks movie starring Chris Pratt.
May be a hot take but the innocent, overly couqette, large age gap, quiet reader is getting too repetitive. Give me grown woman, experienced, fights back, confident, pays her bills reader!
⟢ The youngest member of the group gets sick and tries to hide it because they’re scared of being left behind, so everyone quietly adjusts the travel plan and pretends it was already decided.
⟢ The leader always eats last, and one day the newest member notices and puts food directly into their hands before anyone can argue.
⟢ The quiet one remembers everyone’s tiny preferences: who hates bitter tea, who needs silence after a fight, who sleeps badly near windows, who says they’re fine when they absolutely are not.
⟢ Someone gets injured and expects to be yelled at for slowing the group down, but instead the others start arguing over who gets to carry their bag. T
⟢ he group finds a safe place for one night, and nobody knows how to act because surviving together is easier than resting together.
⟢ The most reckless one gets grounded by the entire group like a misbehaving child, even though they are technically a full adult with weapons.
⟢ Someone accidentally calls the group “home” and immediately tries to correct themselves, but everyone heard it and nobody lets them forget.
⟢ A character who has always been replaceable realizes they are not when the whole group turns around to go back for them without even discussing it.
This sunny spot was very good for making words this weekend. My very old MacBook did not love how warm it got, but if only one of us could be happy I chose me. (Yes, that’s either Area Eden or Theo Shoots His Shot since I worked on both this WE)
Anyway, my writing bestie took these on her visit and they came out so nice I overcame my reticence to post pictures of myself. Special occasion.

I understand where the aversion to a fictional character's problems getting "fixed" by a relationship comes from - romantic relationships aren't everything there is to life and I've seen people in real life jump from shitty relationship to shitty relationship because they're terrified of being single, which is sad!
However, when people take this to the extreme where the only Correct and Morally Upstanding way to fix a character's problems is to have them figure out everything on their own because they are Strong and Independent and then after they've done that they are cleared for a relationship..... man that's depressing as hell. Do you know how much easier it is to work on yourself when you have someone close by who is nice to you? Who cares about you as a person and wishes you the best and is willing to say things like "hey have you eaten anything today? have you gotten enough sleep? I don't think everyone hates you. what if we went for a walk?"
and that CAN come from a platonic friend or a romantic partner or anything in between but it really does help to have someone in your house who is nicer to you than you are to yourself. and that's not something you have to earn by obtaining enough Therapy Points, whether you're a fictional character or not. being romantically involved with someone doesn't prevent you from growing or changing as a person.
Yeah dunno about you but I feel like some people have taken the more sensible idea of "it CAN be beneficial to SOME people to spend some time being single/alone and reflecting on themselves (e.g. if they're over-reliant on the idea that a partnership will fix their problems)" and decided that it has to apply to everyone now. It feels like an "everything looks like a nail" problem.
So then you get people looking at a character who's already been isolated and lacked connection for most of their life and going "well, clearly what they need is more alone time. That'll sort them out."
