I’m not reinventing the wheel by saying this, but dehumanisation is bad actually, even when you do it to “bad” people.

Dehumanising even Nazis and terrorists just removes the obligation and responsibilities we all have to understand how radicalisation into violent extremism happens, how seemingly ordinary people can become convinced that mass murder is a moral course of action.

No one who becomes an extremist thinks of themselves as monstrous, they truly believe that all of their actions have a just reason and if only they could make everyone else understand, everything will be fine.

Human beings can be evil, cruel, and vicious. Pretending that only inhuman monsters can participate in and justify atrocities stops anyone who thinks of themselves as normal and moral from questioning their ideas or their actions and as we have seen, that is decidedly not a good thing.

Yeeeeeeaaah that’s… that’s not even remotely true.  Terra does get a large brunt of fandom hate but there have been plenty of fics that have demonized Beast Boy, not to mention–as you said–plenty more that bash Starfire.  I don’t think any one major shipping group in the fandom is innocent of dumb baseless mindless Die For Our Ship hate.  It infects all camps.

And I really don’t have the energy to even explain how tired I am of fanon shippers that refuse to admit they aren’t canon.  Doesn’t matter what ship it is, it just annoys me.

I get not liking the idea of Robin/Dick and Starfire getting together, but no, it's ALWAYS cheating, whether it's Dick screwing Babs one night before getting married to Kori or Robin falling for Raven after being in a situationship with Starfire for 3 seasons. I wouldn't hate these ships so passionately if like the very foundation of it wasn't breaking a happy couple by introducing a new female love interest so that fans can have a misogyny fest.

Just wanted to rant about C*leb. I'd get the "let people enjoy things" complaint from his fans if THEY at least extended the same courtesy. Like if they weren't like "omg u don't get his characterrr" and like call us puritans for not being ok with two people raised as siblings to get together. I don't get how you "naturally" fall in love with your adopted sibling. Like you can't fall in love with someone at 6 (I like to think that even kid Raf just looked for mc out of infatuation) and then STILL have those feelings as you grow up together. This is not even mentioning his control issues. And I'd like to enjoy them as siblings but gosh the way they interact is so uncanny and sometimes straight up Alabama core.

No i wouldn't want to kiss an adopted brother i was RAISED with either, but guess what? that's because we are mentally sound, that doesn't make him any less of a brother just cause we are not related, i'd argue blood siblings that never met and dated is more ethical than this, because siblinghood is about BONDS. There's no Adam and Eve, it's Abela and Cain bro. It's a fetish relationship, and C*leb it's almost obsessed with her, and it is creepy and weird because it's supposed to be. People ought to enjoy whatever creepy ass media they get off to but lying about it to everyone else is where i draw the line, there's no level of "reading comprehension" that will make their relationship more ethical unless they decide to change the whole sibling storyline and go "actually Josephine segregated them for 20 years to one side of the house", i don't need 13 hours of torturing myself reading his cards to get to the conclusion yet again, that this shit is weird, because every time i see them interact since the BEGINNING shit is weird, and his stans on twitter that are actually honest are CELEBRATING that shit, is in fact weird. This was juxtaposed with Korra being muscular, dark skinned, and not agreeable. This set off a storm of racist and misogynistic comparisons with Korra. And you'll notice all their fan arts portray Korra as a brute. It gets genuinely irritating when Korrasami fans brag about being progressive because it was racially insensitive in many ways.
