As a reminder, July is disability pride month! This pride month, I want us to especially think of:

Those with long-term/worsened disabilities because of their parents telling them to just work through it/get over it/"it's not that bad"

Those with disabilities stemming from childhood abuse

Those who know that they're disabled or suspect such, but can't get it diagnosed or checked out because of their parents/guardians disapproving

Those who know/suspect that they're disabled, but won't be diagnosed or checked out because they're "too young"

Those who struggle in or had to drop out of the harsh and mostly unaccommodating school system because of their disability or disabilities

Those who were lied to or not told they were disabled growing up so they could be raised "normal"

Those who have their privacy and autonomy violated as a combination of being disabled and being a child, as both of those groups are seen as not deserving their autonomy

Those who are disabled or had their disability (or disabilities) worsened because of the school system pushing them too far

Those who feel that they can never be one of the "normal" kids and that they'll always be isolated because of their disability or disabilities

Disabled folks who don't know or didn't know much about their disability as a kid because doctors would only explain to the parents/caretakers and no one bothered to talk to you

All disabled children having to deal with the intersectuality of being oppressed by both ableism and adultism.

Happy disability pride month and please start treating children and disabled people with basic respect and dignity!! They are autonomous beings! Act like it!

Y'know it's kinda misogynistic that the moment a man shows even the slightest bit of submission in a relationship he's immediately "the woman." It's also misogynistic that it seems some of y'all can't give a shit about a woman unless she's a domineering badass who only exists to emphasize the man's "weakness"

What are your thoughts about sakura?

She's pretty overrated. Yeah I said it. Normally I'm all for being widely hated female characters' defence attorney but with Sakura she actually was an asshole 90% of the time, and that percentage did somewhat reduce by the end of Shippuden (though her gags were brought back when kishi needed a funni moment). I do tend to defend her when people act like her having a mean streak makes her the devil. That's misogyny and I hate it.

But in my fandom experience there are so many more people who respond to valid criticisms of her character and are like "but *unrelated male character* did worse!1!" Or act like defending canon Hinata and defending canon Sakura is similar in any way–bro hinata antis victim blame a 3yo child for her clan's fucked up ways while Sakura antis just kinda overreact to actually bad things she has said and done? There are tons of videos on yt that say she deals with a lot of hatred from anime dudebros and talk about the better aspects of her character but all Hinata gets is bad faith analysis and a half assed "she should have been a healer" (I can't even begin to explain how wrong that interpretation is) and because she's a conventionally attractive anime girl with big boobs, no one ever talks about the misogyny SHE faces, a lot of it at the hands of sakura stans no less. Sakura is one of the protagonists so more should be expected from her than idk the girl who appears once in every 40 chapters? I do like that she opens her own clinic and focuses on children with war trauma. Man, the arc she could have had...😔

Idk I'm not really in the Naruto fandom a lot outside of Hinata and team 8 content, not really interested in sakuras canon character at all sorry

Asou sneaking in the 'god's favourite' punchline again. Obviously he'd have saved them even if teruhashi wasn't involved, but then they'd be more likely to question what was happening? The way if she's there he could get away with being relatively less discreet without people suspecting something might be off...

Also the way they both save each other from the newspaper club after this arc using their respective abilities...Teruhashi convincing her fanclub into believing she just doesn't shit in order to save Saikis reputation while also assuring them that he'd never do such a thing and Saiki stopping the president from faking nudes to save Teruhashis image... I can't..

I had to come back to this because Saiki was damn right when he said, “When we combine our powers, we’re invincible.”

Because what do you mean this man can literally have food wash up on the shore and nobody questions it simply because Teruhashi is there. The funniest part is that Saiki is always convinced that being around Teruhashi draws too much attention and could expose his powers. But in reality, she’s the greatest cover he could ever ask for. Being with her gives him the perfect chances to use his powers, nobody bats an eye because they know nothing is impossible if Teruhashi wills it. The exact same thing happens during the cultural festival too, just on a much bigger scale. That’s when Saiki realizes that if they combine their powers, they’re basically invincible.

OMG yes!! Also that made me realise, he hadn't actually said anything bad about her in the manga. Teru doesn't have the most flowery thoughts he could've been like "I don't like her cause she is full of herself" but he ALWAYS focused on the fact that she attracts attention. He literally confirmed in chapter 29 that it was purely a matter of pride and he wouldn't say offu even if she was his girlfriend (he'd just met her why's he entertaining that thought 😏)

And that IS what ends up helping him cover for his powers. Or should I say, Teru's aura is so big that it masks his own aura

i didn't want to mention this in my last post because i know people in this fandom are very sensitive and mean about their claimed "queer coding", but also using "hairo's heavily implied homosexuality" is another good example of just lying/exaggerating to make teruhashi seem worse. the canon explanation for hairo's lack of gasping at teruhashi is that he sees all people equally, and the chapter about him potentially being gay ended with us finding out that hairo doesn't know what his sexuality is... but a lot of people just ignore that and take him as gay, then assume that means every person capable of being attracted to girls is like under teruhashi's fucking spell or whatever. i'm not saying hairo is canonically NOT gay, the whole point is that his sexuality is unknown, it's SUPPOSED to be ambiguous, and he's specifically used as an example of one of the types of people who won't gasp at teruhashi for reasons completely irrelevant to whatever his sexuality may be, you can't just ignore that to support your creepy and misogynistic agenda LMAO

i don't have a screenshot of this and i'm not going to look for it so don't take my word to heart, but i also remember them saying that the fact that saiki and teruhashi are dating in the alternate timeline where saiki was closer and more comfortable with his friends doesn't mean anything because it's possible that she forced it onto him even in that universe which is actually so fucking crazy and disgusting LMAO like yeah sure, just because you don't like the ship means the saiki who is canonically more social and open with the group is actually a sad little puppy who's being forced to tolerate teruhashi forcing him to date her... right... i'm sure... that's totally what was being implied here and you're totally not struggling to comprehend what you're reading because of bias...

I am assuming it's a misinterpretation of this panel, which is crazy because it's one of the wokest panels(the bar is low so pls forgive me if this is exaggeration) I've seen in a shonen

This is literally the opposite of her "wanting" to be a tradwife. She states that she probably COULD choose not to work and be fine but also adds that people would be disappointed with whatever career she takes that doesn't require/is all about being beautiful.

The whole point of her character was that she is literally not what she portrays herself to be, and she acts the way she does because she wants to be the ideal perfect girl. She only fits into gender roles and acts naive and plays into their fantasies because that's what gives her the illusion of power.

For the record I agree, I don't think liking ANY female character could ever be misogynistic, whether or not said character follows traditional gender roles, but with teruhashi specifically it's an insanely shitty point to make.

Kinda blows my mind the amount of people who genuinely believe a 25 year old cishet allo Japanese man in 2012 would write a character based on himself (if he had superpowers) and make another character that, as time goes by, gains more and more similarities to said Japanese man’s wife, and make his self insert aroace and trans. When. He’s neither of those. I’m pretty sure.

Especially when not only is it implied kusuo and kokomi end up together, but also aroace is a severely underrepresented identity, and few over the age of 25 TODAY know what it means

To be fair, most of the people who genuinely believe that ku being aroace and trans is canon probably either never read the manga or only read parts of it/didn’t pay attention and likely don’t know anything about the author
