Saiki being Teruhashi's number 1 fan

I love how by the end of the series, Saiki genuinely comes to admire Teruhashi and her dedication to her role. Compare that to the beginning of the series where he'd be half-scared of her troublesome attention magnet persona and how he'd almost never win against her.

At first glance, you’d think Saiki and Teruhashi couldn’t be more different because Teruhashi thrives on attention while Saiki wants nothing more than to blend into the background. Yet despite having completely opposite goals, they balance each other perfectly.

Saiki is the only person who sees Teruhashi for who she truly is. Since her charms have no effect on him, he recognizes her flaws and watches her grow into a more genuine person over time. Because of him, Teruhashi grows more comfortable in being herself. Likewise, Teruhashi is more than capable of challenging Saiki. His powers place him above everyone but Teruhashi constantly surprises him. Not only that, she also overturns his biggest misconception that people’s feelings are easy to change. Her love remains genuine throughout, which makes him rethink his assumptions.

Ironically, although Saiki often sees Teruhashi as someone who attracts unwanted attention, she’s actually his greatest cover. During the cultural festival, Saiki is able to use his powers without anyone suspecting anything because Teruhashi’s overwhelming presence makes everyone believe the impossible events are simply another result of her perfection. Her presence naturally redirects everyone’s attention away from him. It’s in this moment that Saiki himself acknowledges that the two of them are compatible, even calling them “invincible together.” Teruhashi doesn’t just challenge him, she also complements him in ways no one else can. Whenever she’s around, the impossible somehow becomes believable and it gives Saiki the freedom to use his powers.

And the most important thing is that both of them eventually sacrifice the thing they value most for each other. Teruhashi is willing to abandon the image she’s protected for years while Saiki willingly draws attention to himself, the very thing he hates most, to help her without hesitation. Neither asks the other to change, they simply choose to because the other has become important to them.

It’s two people whose strengths cover each other’s weaknesses. Teruhashi gives Saiki something even his powers can’t provide- unpredictability and surprisingly, the perfect disguise. Saiki gives Teruhashi something no one else ever has- someone who values her for herself instead of the image she projects.

The way if she's there he could get away with being relatively less discreet without people suspecting something might be off...

Also the way they both save each other from the newspaper club after this arc using their respective abilities...Teruhashi convincing her fanclub into believing she just doesn't shit in order to save Saikis reputation while also assuring them that he'd never do such a thing and Saiki stopping the president from faking nudes to save Teruhashis image... I can't..

I had to come back to this because Saiki was damn right when he said, “When we combine our powers, we’re invincible.”

Because what do you mean this man can literally have food wash up on the shore and nobody questions it simply because Teruhashi is there. The funniest part is that Saiki is always convinced that being around Teruhashi draws too much attention and could expose his powers. But in reality, she’s the greatest cover he could ever ask for. Being with her gives him the perfect chances to use his powers, nobody bats an eye because they know nothing is impossible if Teruhashi wills it. The exact same thing happens during the cultural festival too, just on a much bigger scale. That’s when Saiki realizes that if they combine their powers, they’re basically invincible.

OMG yes!! Also that made me realise, he hadn't actually said anything bad about her in the manga. Teru doesn't have the most flowery thoughts he could've been like "I don't like her cause she is full of herself" but he ALWAYS focused on the fact that she attracts attention. He literally confirmed in chapter 29 that it was purely a matter of pride and he wouldn't say offu even if she was his girlfriend (he'd just met her why's he entertaining that thought 😏)

And that IS what ends up helping him cover for his powers. Or should I say, Teru's aura is so big that it masks his own aura

That one time Saiki thought about all the bad people he had met, Toritsuka was one of them. If you took Teruhashi haters seriously, you’d expect her to be on that list too but she wasn’t. Saiki never considered her a bad person because she simply isn’t one. She thrives on attention and plays the role of the perfect pretty girl because that’s what makes her feel powerful and in control. Besides, that’s all she’s ever known. What do you expect a teenager to do when society has collectively taught her that no matter what she does, her beauty will always overshadow everything else? When Aiura first met Teruhashi and read her aura, it was pure and angelic, with only a few black feathers mixed in. No human is without flaws, and neither is Teruhashi (though she’s still literally perfect). But even Aiura didn’t see her as a bad person, in fact, she ended up liking her even more. Saiki knows she’s a genuinely good person too. That’s why his opinion of her gradually improved, to the point where he started singing her praises left and right lol.

While I haven’t watched the other series you’re talking about, I absolutely understand your frustration because I feel the same way!!! These are the same people who hate Teruhashi for being “arrogant” and “full of herself,” but love Saiki for those exact same traits? Do you really think Saiki isn’t arrogant? That he doesn’t like showing off? That he isn’t full of himself?

“Yeah, Saiki has a god complex because he’s basically a god with his psychic powers,” but then act like Teruhashi isn’t the same. Are we even watching the same show? She is quite literally God’s favourite child who gets almost anything and everything she wants. All she has to do is make puppy eyes at the God. And the fact that Saiki almost never wins against her makes me wonder who the real God is lmao.

Just admit you can’t stand a woman who knows her worth, because the Teruhashi hate proves it. Saiki and Teruhashi are two sides of the same coin, and that’s a fact whether you like it or not.

Some of y’all actually think Teruhashi would stop liking Saiki the moment he says “offu” (which he’s eventually going to say anyway, he has already said it three times without her knowing lol). But I hate to break it to you, she clearly loves him more than anything and y’all need to stop downplaying her feelings.

Teruhashi went from being in denial to genuinely liking Saiki for who he is, enough to admit her crush to multiple people. Heck, she was even ready to practice confessing to him in front of someone she had just met (Saiki disguised as Kuriko). She made him chocolates on Valentine’s, literally shouted in front of everyone that nothing could ever make her hate him, even changed her style and personality for him. She changed her college preferences just to be at the same college as him (she literally wrote “Saiki’s wife” as her first choice lmao). Most importantly, she let her perfect pretty girl mask slip away just to go thank him. Her excitement and the little jumps at the thought of spending some alone time with him in the last episode of Reawakened should be enough to make people realize that all Teruhashi wants is be around him. The Mixer episode is the biggest proof. To her, Saiki is not just another “offu” from the crowd. She genuinely likes him and wants him to like her back. Even after hearing about the meteor that could annihilate them all, she still didn’t stop thinking about him.

After all this, I could never say that it’s just about getting a reaction out of him.

juist felt like reminding u guys

daily reminder that in s2 e16 makoto and saiki are out shopping for gifts for teruhashi, something saiki "does not want to be doing," and then when makoto doesn't buy the gift he thinks she'll like he sees the price tag on it and decides to buy it for her, and then he literally watches them using clairvoyance to see if she likes it.. and then says "see, i told you she'd like it"

is this not peak tsundere behavior☹ i genuinely can't see him doing this for anyone else in the series, is it just me? and also just this episode and beyond until the end of the show he smiles constantly because of her, like i want to do a smile count for seasons 2 and 3 and compare how many of them are unrelated to kokomi vs related to her-- she's the only person in the series that consistently makes him smile

i really dont think we talk enough about how saiki and teruhashi were a couple in an alternate universe that was only slightly different from the normal one. like i really think we just moved on from that way too fast.

teruhashi's "he'd probably be sitting sullenly in the corner, but i still would have enjoyed having him here" is genuinely one of the most beautiful she's ever been in the series. saiki's response ("you're wrong; i'm smiling slightly right now") pales in comparison to the sheer honesty of her claim - that she knows saiki, and she enjoys his company. it's not "she enjoys his company despite his sullenness" or "he's bitter but she's got shit taste" or anything of that sort.

it is simply, so simply, that she enjoys his company. of course such a sentiment put a slight smile on saiki's otherwise stoic countenance. it approaches 'rolling your eyes (affectionate)' at someone, or something like that. it makes her beautiful to me because she can cherish this kind of trait in another person.

kokomi likes kusuo because he is the only one that doesn’t fawn over her for her beauty alone, is capable of loving her for who she is on the inside, and is one of the healthiest men she knows. to say she likes kuriko just because she’s a girl is, idk, so invalidating. they have no chemistry that way

it still frustrates me whenever i see people saying terusai wouldnt work because teruhashi wants a lot of attention and saiki hates attention... idk what show you guys watched but how did you get the idea that teruhashi wants to live like this the rest of her life 😭 when she consistently shows how much she actually hates it and its very clearly implied that she only keeps doing it because its all she knows, she thinks shes obligated to, and she believes its the only way for her to get validation
