by the way, jesse van horn who struggled with addiction in his early 20s would absolutely be there for frank during his hiatus. provide him a room in his house when home is too messy to cope with, ensuring he follows the proper steps, hell, he would sponsor him if it didn't mean he wouldn't be able to provide all the help he wants to give him, for better and for worse.

it also means that when frank is struggling with chronic pains and no way to self medicate, he ensures he takes breaks every once in a while, that he eats and drinks plenty, he would even give him shoulder rubs whenever he has a free minute and he's scarily good at it.

he's also the king of showing up for the smaller guy, which would absolutely translate in him fighting Robby big time whenever he downplays what happened and refuses to address it:

frank having a flare up and robby sending him home and jesse immediately following suit; robby would berate him on the account that "he has a responsibility, he can't just leave every time someone in the ED has a minor inconvenience."

"just because you're mad at yourself for not showing up for him for some personal moral dilemma doesn't mean I should too. if he needs me I'll be there and right now he needs me and you're just gonna have to find a way to deal with it."

robby is flabbergasted to say the least, muttering about how he has fucked up priorities as a nurse and jesse is like "I'm not a nurse, I'm a person and I show up for my people. YOU have failed him. you have failed a promising young man so I won't because he never deserved it in the first place. people are more than just their mistakes, you of all people should know it."

he brews beer in his basement because his therapist told him to find a hobby

he lives in a countryside house. the commute to work is brutal but he loves the freedom of being a little isolated from the mess of the city

he's been working in ptmc since he graduated some 15-20 years prior, minus a few years in the middle where he worked in emergency territory services. loved being on the street but he doesn't like taking on responsibilities that big anymore

dana was his mentor when he started and they have a recurring joke that they should've gotten married

he's divorced. married his girlfriend only after a 6 months engagement in his early 20s, they eloped and she got pregnant almost immediately after. she used his time on the street team as an excuse to divorce him and remarried right after, taking sole custody of the daughter. said daughter loves her dad and they have a very buddy kind of relationship, I'd say she's somewhere in her 20s and wanting to pursue a career in arts or music that he's super supportive of

jesse, jack and robby are ride or die best friends. they routinely meet up for drinks and jesse has kissed both of them at some point

I don't even have to say this, he's openly queer but doesn't like labels. he will go to pride with one those "dad hugs" shirts but also wearing some kickass make up that looks a little too good on him

he LOVES his car. he and robby spend afternoons in jesse's garage pimping their rides from time to time

Have this thought that post ICE confrontation/physical contact becomes a bit of a trigger for panic attacks and he's seen it happen to others hundreds of times but never exprienced it. Its confusing the first time it happens, can't see why he reacts to a confrontational patient putting his hands on him. Then in the aftermath as he starts to calm he joins the dots and realise it took him back to the momemt of being pinned and cuffed. He's hard on himself about it because others had it worse. (BONUS that Dana also joins the dots and talks to him about it and warns him "Don't give me any of that suck it up, be a man bullshit, I've seen you with you're nails painted to many times for that crap.")
