It’s not as though Clark had a valid reason to reject what was so clearly a very generous offer on Perry’s part. Even if he had an excuse, he probably wouldn’t hear the end of it from the other folks at the Planet. Why would Clark turn down such a slam dunk viral news story? Sure, Superman had plenty of reasons to be wary of another rich man flaunting around Metropolis; it hadn’t even been three months since the truth of his Kryptonian mission was revealed to the entire world. Clark had none of the same reservations.

“Consider him charmed.”
