I honestly think Will never liked kids, he never expected to be a father in his life, let alone at that point in his life when Caesar was thrusted in his arms. He doesn’t know how to handle kids, and alot of that is because he had to take care of his father, but in those scenes you can see how awkward and uncomfortable he was. His father can’t remember and is near child mentality who needed assistance, more than just a single hired nurse.

So when Caesar came in, Will has little to no clue how to care for the little chimp, and it’s a little more than ‘first kid’, and leans into ‘what is a kid??’ lmao
