I know my boyfriend loves me because he puts the seat down.

He doesn’t do it every time but I’d say easily 9 out of 10 times he remembers and I appreciate that more than he knows. The second time he came over to my house, weeks into our relationship, I mentioned that my biggest pet peeve with hosting my mother at my house is that my mom never puts the seat down when she’s done in the bathroom. I’ve explained to her multiple times that I always put the seat down because I saw one classmate’s science fair demonstration on how far poo flings when you flush with the lid up and was sufficiently grossed out for life. I told him one story one time and he continues to make an effort to put the seat down 🥰

I did the one thing I said I wasn’t going to do when I joined the fire department.

I told everyone about how I love my community and fire but, as the product of a firehouse romance, I would never date another firefighter and certainly not one in my district. But no, I end up falling for my captain.

The worst part is I think my dad is going to love him. And our story so similar to my parents that it’s almost eerie.
