Tbh, I'm significantly less concerned with people casually using the word crazy to mean busy or overwhelming or something than I am with people adopting clinical psychiatric language in an attempt to appropriate the pathologizing function of psychiatry for themselves (as in the case of people using "narcissist" to essentially mean "evil person" and diagnosing everyone in their life as a narcissist).

Alright! I'm gonna be trying something new with getting the pages done... I'll still be trying to get a page out each week but I'm going to make a concerted effort to keep the number of subjects and panels to a minimum so as to be nicer to myself, and I resolve to take breaks when I reach a good stopping place in the story. This probably means that it will take me longer to tell the story, but. Oh well, right? We're here to have fun & be entertained! It's not a problem if that takes longer than 40 pages! That just means more time for fun stuff!

Hey!! We finally get to hear from Lieutenant Sylvia Halls!! Wow, that girl can TALK, can't she? (Now if you would please imagine her speaking with a lovely sort of... vaguely Southern-US-American accent, I would appreciate it haha)

She...seems a bit upset at the ambassador for not being more concerned about the Captain!! And I don't blame her! Look at all those lovely things she has to say about him! Why can't the ambassador SEE that Captain Hastings shouldn't just be thrown away??? (It's okay, Sylvia. He knows. He knows. Please don't mistake a calm outward appearance for apathy!)

I’m reading this book that talks about how children in a healthy home environment develop a healthy sense of shame (that is, a conscience and feeling that certain behaviors are wrong) while many children who are raised with a lot of parental anger or negative comments develop “toxic shame” where they believe there’s something wrong with THEM.

Got me thinking about how EVERY time physical discipline of a child (spanking, whipping, beating) comes up somebody jumps in and says “well I was just a horrible child, I needed to be whipped, I was bad, I had to be punished.”

As someone who works with kids and rarely finds a genuine naughty kid who can’t be reasoned with, I was always wondering what made those people so convinced they were horrible, and here’s the answer: those people developed a sense that they were naughty and bad to the core not because of their behaviors (which they should have learned are changeable) but because of the way their parents taught them to view themselves.

terfs seem to think they're not misogynists because the misogyny they weaponize is against trans women, and despite being incredibly vulnerable targets of misogyny, we are not "real" women by their standards, and so it's categorically not misogyny

call a woman's breasts "disgusting man boobs" and it's apparently not misogyny because you put the word "man" in there as an indication you don't think your target is woman enough

like so much of what terfs do is just word games. I've even seen terfs acknowledge misogynistic patterns of oppression and abuse against trans women, and yet they maintain that it's categorically not misogyny, and thus it doesn't really matter, because we don't "count," as if the misogyny against us isn't rooted in the same things as "real" misogyny against "real" women. they're not making any kind of actual point, they're just shuffling words around

a large majority of TMEs haven't unlearned the patriarchal idea that womanhood is a bad thing, and they do not believe trans women actually seek and embrace womanhood. a lot of them seem to think we only want (and experience) the surface level aesthetics of womanhood

I don't know a single trans woman who didn't know she would face a stark increase in misogyny when she started transition. I don't know a single trans woman who's ever seemed to think "I didn't know I would face misogyny too!" I've never met a trans woman who thought she should be exempt from misogyny because of her transness

and yet far far too many TMEs seem to think we are naive to the challenges of womanhood, that we are taken aback by them and regret opening ourselves up to them. the trans women I know embrace womanhood fully, difficulties and all. transfeminism is a movement of women planting our flags within womanhood and fighting misogyny. we are not keeping one foot in some exit door in case the going gets too tough. we are taking an active role in combatting the forces that oppress us as women

(and, by the way, there is no exit door the way a lot of people seem to think there is. there is no coming back from being a tranny in the eyes of the patriarchy. our womanhood is no more a removable costume than anyone else's)
