Hello and welcome to my pet blog!! If you like cats, dogs, chickens, guinea pigs, and/or bugs, this is the place for you!

My cats are indoor cats, they are only outside with supervision.

Here's a quick introduction to all my animals :) (a bit outdated)

Skittles

My oldest pet! She's a 13 year old tortie who I got as a kid when my cousin's cat had kittens. She's very playful and loves cheese, grass, and sunlight.

Doctor Who

Aw little guy!!! Doctor Who was named after the tumblr guidelines, which state that you can't use irrelevant tags on a post - such as posting a picture of your cat under the doctor who tag, unless it is named Doctor Who. So I named him Doctor Who. He's a little baby rescue cat and I love him so so much. He's the sweetest baby ever to me, but is terrified of everyone else. He is also a menace. And also a HIMBO.

My first ever pet dog! She's a Russell terrier cross rescue pup. She's so smart (maybe a little too smart) and full of energy and love (especially for other dogs).

The new girls!

I mean, she's about the same size as Champagne. Who is quite small, probably about the same size as Bourbon, who was always my smallest.

Champagne and Soju get along quite well, jury's still out on the other two. They definitely don't fight but they're quite shy so it's hard to get a read on their relationship with Champagne. They do get along well with each other though!

I desperately want to buy one of Champagne's sisters and name her Piña Colada lol it's just the perfect name

Whiskey just passed away at 4 years old :(

I feel so blindsided. She seemed totally normal yesterday, and Champagne is doing fine which makes me think it wasn't an environmental issue.

There are... many reasons that guinea pigs may pass away suddenly. I think I am going to perform a necropsy, but as I don't have any experience with healthy guinea pig organs to compare hers to, I'm not sure if it'll be very useful. Regardless, I'm going to bury her beside her sister.

Man, this sucks. At least Champagne doesn't seem too beat up about it. They didn't know each other that long, I guess. Still, I'm going to have to get her a new friend.

My parents recently took care of my guinea pigs while I was on holiday, and unfortunately there was an Incident. I don't want to go into details, but Scotch is dead, and we think that Gingerbread is too.

But I don't want this to be a sad post. Thankfully, Whiskey and Bourbon are both fine! Last I heard, Bourbon is still with the rescue, luckily his eye healed up and did not need to be removed, and he will hopefully be adopted out soon. Whiskey is doing well too, and I still have her! Of course she was very sad to lose her sister, but luckily she has taken very nicely to her new friend...

Champagne!

As you can see, Champagne is a beautiful cream abyssinian, about 1-2 years old. I would have been happy to accept any female guinea pig, but when the breeder offered her to me I couldn't resist such a pretty girl.

She's decently friendly, as you can see she will quite happily let my younger cousins hold and pet her, but most importantly she gets along great with Whiskey. It's a relief knowing Whiskey has a friend again, and I have two happy piggies.

They are inside for the winter now, but I'm working on building them a large and extra secure outdoor enclosure for summer <3

So Screams had very small testes which I suppose explains why I thought he was a pullet at first. I expect it was probably the same with Daisy. I guess some of my boys just take a much longer time to sexually mature than others.

Even at the end he had a pale face and small comb. Quite interesting to see to be honest. Probably a trait I should breed for. I want large birds and to be healthy they should ideally grow slowly.

I think we should all give our chickens horse-like names for fun

Beepers horse name would be something like "HHC Are you Beeping?"

HHC standing for home of house chickens usually whoever owns or bred the horse has the farm initials up front. The name itself has to be under 20 characters and that includes spaces and punctuation but of course this isn't serious haha.

Ibis- HHC Bin Chicken

Princess Cream- HHC Bossy Beauty

Just kidding I am infodumping

Fluffybutt - Kind of self explanatory. He is my big brahma rooster who is not very friendly (though not unfriendly) but very gentle regardless and very good with the girls :) I was tempted by 'Fancy Pants' since his full name is Sir Fluffybutt Fancypants III, but ultimately this one felt more correct.

Star - She is very skittish and quick so I thought 'shooting' would be a good adjective to add to star! Her real full name is Stardust Moonflower Ghost Owl but no part of that really felt right for her horse name.

Ash - Okay so. Ash kind of has two names. I was really stuck between names so I gave her both. Her main name is Ashen Vulture, her alt name is Phoenix Feather. I found her lying still on the road and thought she was dead, but when I went to pick her up she opened her eyes at me! I wanted to use Phoenix for this because just using her name felt like a copout, and she is also very sassy so Fiery Phoenix felt appropriate.

Nettle - Although Nettle's name is just 'Nettle', I did consider naming her Princess Nettle when I got her, and she is very pretty. Alternatively I did consider calling her Lady Featherington for this exercise, which is the name my mama wanted to give her, but it was too long, and Pretty Princess was more descriptive and thus felt more appropriate anyway.

Hooter - 'Firsty' comes from the fact that Hooter was the first chicken I bred, hatched, and raised as an adult! 'Thirsty' just comes from the fact that I made two posts about her drinking water lol. I did want to choose something with 'Peeper', because I used to call her and her sister 'The Peepers', but I couldn't think of anything to go with it that would also acknowledge that she was my first baby. It's fine though, I think it's funny.

Beetle - When I first got Beetle, she had been suffering pretty bad from featherpicking, so I dyed her blue while the feathers grew back out. 'Scarab' is just a reference to 'Beetle'!

Belle - Belle is mean lol. She is fairly high on the pecking order and, as such, likes to snap at the others, especially chicks. She is sassy and she snaps!

Onion - Onion has mostly recovered from her teenagehood limp, but you can still see her hopping a little bit when she runs.

Daisy - I wanted to use 'sweetened' instead of 'sweet', but again, too long. He is not quite friendly enough for me to call him sweet in regular conversation, but he is probably the friendliest of my flock, so it counts. And his placeholder name was Sage as a chick.

Maisie - Not only was Maisie red, but she was also a bully. This name is in reference to Heather Chandler. I was tempted to just call her PPP Heather Chandler, but I have also likened her to Heather Duke in the past, so I liked the vagueness of how 'Red Heather' could technically refer to either of them. It is also a plant. Her full name was Miss Maisie Daisy Abigail Cluckington so I could've used Maisie-Daisie or Miss Cluckington, but yeah, I just preferred the symbolism. I ALSO considered 'Little Red' for one of my favourite childhood stories 'The Little Red Hen' but again, no symbolism.

Pipkin - This one is simple. Pipkin's full name was A Pipkin of Pepper for the Pumpkin Soup, based on another storybook I liked as a kid. I used to call her Pumpkin, sometimes. So Pumpkin Soup seemed cute.
